TMI Help

Ok I am desperate... I think I have a hemroid? Seriously I am so uncomfortable it is like the baby is coming out my rectum. This is my 3rd pregnancy and I have never experienced this.

Granted I am living in the hospital with my daughter who slowly but surely is recovering... So I am sitting a lot which I read could be a cause.

Sent my husband to get me softer toilet paper (hospital toilet paper is like sand paper but worse) some hemroid cream and tucks pads... Yeah, our relationship went there... After 12 years of marriage... I won't even pee with the door open. But I digress...
Nothing is helping I can barely walk... Or sit.
Any advice?

Re: TMI Help

  • Someone here mentioned using Popsicles down there. Apparently there is a small ice pack that fits down there. Hope something works for you soon.

Hope you guys are hanging in there!

  • Maybe sit on a small inner tube so your butt isn't directly on a hard surface. And hopefully the tucks pads and everything else will help quickly!

  • If you have a boppy they work great for sitting on.  Its circular shape works well for mimicking the hemorrhoid pillow without being embarassing.

  • I have heard that sitting in a bath of Epsom salt helps. Good luck!

  • Call your dr and get steriod suppositories!! Seriously!! You will feel better in like an hour
  • Second the advice re: sitz baths (or sitting in a few inches of warm water, with baking soda), especially after a BM (if possible).

    Tucks and prep-h will help.

Definitely be gentle when wiping -- unscented baby wipes are best. Best actually to blot, not wipe.

Stay off your butt if you can -- lay on your side, sit on a pillow if you must sit.

Do NOT strain when pooping. Ever. And keep the BMs soft with stool softeners as advised above.

Very important to stay hydrated, too, for softer poops.

Lifting things can exacerbate or cause hemmroids, too, so be careful there.

Good luck. These things seriously suck.

  • I got them all the time when I was pregnamt with DD. I suggest a Sitz bath, or just sitting in a bathtub with salt water that just covers your bum. Also, witch hazel. Seriously though witch hazel, put it on a wash cloth and hold it on for a few minutes (or sit on it). It reduces swelling like magic.

  • Aww. :( I had a hemi after delivering DS and it was no picnic. I hope you feel better soon!

Great advice from PPs! Wish I had something to add, but they've covered everything I can think of.

  • You can use something called domesboro (sp?)solution in the sitz bath too! That helped me so much when I had hemmroids with my 1st pregnancy! Good luck!
  • Kegels and balneol cream really helped me.
