Diaper Rash

Dd has had a rash for about three weeks. It gets almost completely gone and then comes back. I've tried many creams--none really seem to be better than the others. My aunt mentioned food allergies since my cousin used to get a rash when she ate eggs. The only thing I consistently feed dd is blueberries.

I've let her go diaper free for hours at time.

Any suggestions for remedies hat will work?

Re: Diaper Rash

  • Are you sure it's not a yeast rash? Have you used anti-fungals?

  • I was beginning to think that could be the problem. Can I use monistat on her?
  • DD had a yeast rash a couple of weeks ago. We did lotromin 2-3 times a day (recommended by pedi) with coconut oil over. It was cleared up completely within 3 days. I think Monistat might be too strong?

The yeast rash looks kinda red and Welty on her labia (like steak..they call it beefy) with little red dots on the outside and in the bum crack.

    Hope it clears up!!
  • DD has a yeast rash too. Dr prescribed a cream and within a couple of days it looked way better. We have a few more days to go, but it looks pretty normal now. I feel horrible because I had never even heard of a yeast rash until her dr appt last week. It looked welty around where the edges of the diaper were.

  • Thanks. That's sort if what it looks like. I'll get some lotrimin and coconut oil when I go to the store.
So I shouldn't worry about a food allergy?
  • I personally would try this first. Yeast rashes don't go away with regular diaper rash ointment. If you get the anti-fungal and put it on her, you should notice a big improvement within a couple days. If it's not better by Monday, I would probably visit the pedi.
  • Idk about yeast but I know when LO eats mango or plum or sometimes even apricot she gets red all over down there. Not like a diaper rash just irritated. It usually goes away in a day unless she eats those foods. I don't think she is allergic to it I just think it's really acidy
