Ladies, you have to realize this is part of the grieving / leaving an abusive partner process.  I have lost count of the number of people I have wanted to shake because they weren't listening or were dragging their feet and taking longer than I thought they should.  

That's why I can't flame her.  I can be tough and straightforward but flaming her for what is really typical in this process is just not something I can do.  

Though I have admittedly given up on a few who just wouldn't listen at all.

It's not better for your kid to see you fighting and just existing with each other. Ask my So who doesn't want to get married and has some warped views on relationships and how to have heathy relationships. We've had to work very hard to have what we have now. He also asks his mom a lot why she stayed.

My MIL hates going into messy houses. My confession is that I keep my house messy sometimes so she won't come over. DH and I both work full time, go to school full time, and the kids do sports. Sometimes the house doesn't get cleaned, so what!

You know what's disgusting? Abuse. People who use and abuse other people. People who manipulate and control and degrade and belittle and relentlessly berate others. It may be hard to understand why those subject to abuse won't just "up and leave" the very second they get a chance. But not doing so does not make them disgusting, regardless of how disgusting the actions taken against them have been. 

Let's not lose sight of the actual problem.

This type of abuse (emotional, mental and verbal) is often the hardest for the abused to recognize and leave.  

There are no marks, no one incident.  It's a slow and continual drip of this and that which adds up to a total mind fuck.  It's easier to forgive the abuser over because it's more justified by the abused's mind.

You can be in a bad situation where you are still physically safe.  You can be in a bad situation where you have also been a less than perfect partner.  

When we mention your daughter, it is more to pose the question that only you can answer...what is best for her and what situation is more stable.  

Again, I am sorry if that comes across that we think you are screwing her up for life, that she is experiencing a bad home life or that you are in physical danger.  I don't mean to speak for the group but the majority of us are not saying that at all.

I think it's natural to feel like giving things another shot when things are good. He has a LOT of work to do before you should think beyond just Co parenting. It's much easier to get along a few hours a week than to be partners.
