Sleepy/breastfeeding???

Does anyone know if there is some sort of hormone released when breastfeeding that makes you tired or is it just that it's the only time I get to sit and relax so I automatically start falling asleep???

I'm pretty sure there is a hormone released when you BF that makes you sleepy. I used to fall asleep every time I nursed or pumped.

I am positive that there is.  When the babies were new I ALWAYS fell alseep while breastfeeding.  I am sure it is natures way of making it an enjoyable experience so that we want to do it!

Yup. I believe it is called prolactin. I keep telling DH that it must be what is making me such a calm mommy because i always pictured myself being a little high strung as as mommy.
