Alvababy?

What are any thoughts on Alva cd? I am tossing around the serious idea of doing cd. My sister did but she's on vacation so I can't ask her what she used lol. This is my first baby . Just don't know where to begin or what not.

They aren't my favorite. I wouldn't even bother with the inserts that come with them, we get leaks with those. If I stuff them with a different/better insert, they work fine.

Lots of people love pockets but I just don't - I hate stuffing (we use primarily AIO's & AI2's with snap-in inserts, I'm lazy) - Alvas are the only pockets that I haven't sold off, but it's only because I like the prints too much to let them go, ha.

I definitely wouldn't make an entire stash of Alvas but I think they're a good/inexpensive way to try out CDing to see if it would be a good fit for you.

For the price, they are great. If you buy them from superstash.net you can get them without an insert, for $.80 less, and then buy the bamboo insert separately, which are much better than the MF that comes with them.

I do like my kawaii pockets a little better, and they are only a little more than Alvas. They are easier to stuff than alvas, and feel a little sturdier, but alva has more/better prints if you care about that.

Do know that OS pockets will not fit from birth. Alva sells a nb size pocket, and kawaii's Pure and Natural pocket fits most NBs, but a lot of people prefer prefolds or fitted for runny nb poop stage.

We have almost all Alvababy in our stash. I had bought 16 used ones from a friend, before we found out we could not have biological children. We adopted an 18 month old boy and since he won't be in diapers too long, we ended up not making our stash bigger/more diverse like we had planned. Their mf inserts aren't great, I just ordered some of their bamboo ones. (We have been using the diapers 7 weeks now) but overall I am happy with the diapers

They are ok. I actually don't like pockets, but have a handful that I keep stuffed for grandma, and one of them is an Alva. I avoid China made diapers, typically. It works with a good insert, and the prints are cute, but it isn't the best diaper. That said, it does the job.

If you are just starting out, you should get a wide variety of different types. You need to try them out to find the kind that works best for you and your baby. I hate pockets, dislike AIO's, but love fitteds and prefolds, which is quite different than what I thought I wanted before LO arrived.

Really? I would say if anything they are on the smaller side.

The bulk of my stash is Alva, they fit my chunker really well. I bought them with the MF inserts which worked great until about 4-5 months of age, then upped to the bamboo and blended inserts and they work fine again. They are like any diaper, you won't get 100% love from the board because diaper fit is different from kid to kid. Just like I didn't like BGs and now BBs aren't fitting her very well now that she's grown. They are cheap enough that it might be worth a shot to buy some a try them. Worst case senario, you hate them and sell them to a mom who loves them.

I guess I have small babies, and DD1 always had skinny legs, but Alvas didn't fit her around the leg until close to 5 months. The colorsnap ones fit much sooner, though since they have one more rise snap.

I love my alvas! I had prefolds and covers but wanted to get pockets without spending too much so I bought 20 with bamboo inserts from their website for around 100 bucks. I had four previously with microfiber and its pretty bad. I have to use two microfiber inserts or it will leak but the bamboo work great and the prints are crazy cute!
