I hate it when the cleaning people are in the office vacuuming. It drives me crazy. They come on Wednesday so when I needed to stay home on Wednesday, I was happy. Well, they came today instead. And the only phone call I got all day is when the noise was bad. Goooooo awaaaaaaaaay. I know this is a lame vent.

Dear Apartment maintenance, etc.,

Our dishwasher is broken and it will be next Wednesday by the time we get a replacement dishwasher.

Growing up we had to do dishes by hand. A dishwasher only made my life easier as a working special needs mom.

DH and I will have to do them by hand.

Dear Camp Director,

I loved everything you had to say today about RDI and social thinking. Please tell me how to write them into an IEP in a district where the solution to every problem is more ABA.

Dear not so best friend, 

Thank you so much for telling your 4 year old about my miscarriage so I had to be repeatedly asked by my baby died in my belly (she only told her because the 4 year old was mad we weren't going swimming and rather then tell her I wasn't feeling well she told her my baby had died). It was just what I wanted to hear the day after I found out I had lost my baby. Maybe you could not share intimate details of my life with your 4 year old and then say nothing when she asks me heart breaking questions and I start crying.

I am so sorry for your loss.

While I'm all for breaking the stigma of pregnancy loss (have had two losses myself) and being honest with children... a four year old isn't exactly equipped to handle such information tactfully... not to mention if she was told in confidence she broke your trust. I kinda want to smack her for you, especially for not stepping in when she saw you were upset. Hugs.

Dear family member,

No. You do NOT "know how hard it is" or how much it sucks to watch kids younger than mine by more than a year dive off the freaking diving board and have awesome conversations with their parents. You have two children in college studying for highly respected careers. You have no clue.

Dear other family member,

I get that you work in the special needs world. I get it. However, I do not need to be given "ideas" at our family reunion about what activites I should be doing with my son to help him get better hand strength and OT skills. I feel inadequate as it is.

Dear younger family member,

Do not post pictures on FB of the typical cousin who is the exact same age as my kid and say he is your "favorite cousin". You live 30 miles from my son and 800 miles fro the NT kid. Nate should be your favorite. PERIOD.

I love you all, but I am really starting to hate family reunions.
