Help me with color schemes

Our bathroom is painted light green - like celery I guess.  Since what feels like the beginning of time we've had a white shower curtain with slightly darker green and blue trim and then later one that was slightly darker green with white flowers and our towels are a similar green and blue.  The towels have seen better days and so has the bath mat and I want new ones.  I really want to paint the bathroom cream or a very light gray so I can have more options but that's not happening right now.  I'm obsessed with gray right now and really want gray towels but I can't make that work...can I?  What other color scheme can I pull off?

Hm so it seems I may be able to pull off really dark, charcoal-ish towels....

I did a google image search for celery and gray color scheme.  There were more options.  This was my favoreite though.

Here is celery and light gray together.  I think the cream trim is what ties it together.

I think the key would be finding the right shade of gray.  It's one of those colors that, with the right shade, works with anything.

I'm not a big fan of brown and our downstairs bathroom and already brown and smokey blue so I'm trying to avoid it.

Gray looks awesome with so many colors- but just keep in mind the undertone of the gray. 

Cool gray looks good with cool colors-- so celery, baby blue, teal, aqua, lilac

Warm gray looks best with warm colors- melon, salmon, light yellow, ecru

This was my thought too, or something in the purple family. And the point about undertones is a really good one too.

So, is your goal to find a towel/accessories color that would make the transition from celery to grey when you do decide to paint?
Or do you just want a tasteful way to incorporate grey because it is floating your boat right now?

@LC122 I don't even know lol  I think the paint isn't going to be a priority for quite a while so I guess I'm looking for something I can do now that will work later.  I went out today to look at shower curtains (because you can find towels to go with anything) and I couldn't find anything that seemed quite right.  Imma keep looking because you all gave me good ideas

I suck at decorating but I really love the color scheme posted. Who would've thought such odd colors would look awesome together.
