3rd Trimester

39 weeks - still no name!

We're Team Green on our second kid, and while we have a name picked if she's a girl, we still don't have a name if he's a boy. Anyone else still unsettled on a name so far out? Anyone end up with an unnamed baby for a few days (as we're expecting will end up happening if it's a boy)?

  • We still don't have a name for this boy. We didn't name DS1 for about 36 hours after birth. It's not a crisis.

  • With my first son I had a list of potentials but we waited until we met our baby to name him. And I know someone now who just had twins and a day later they have yet to pick names.  Don't worry!  It will come to you.

  • My DH and I are in the same boat.  We keep changing our names and we have yet to settle on one.  I figure once our LO shows up it will all come together! :)  Good luck!
  • Same problem over here, coming up on 37 weeks and still no name!

  • We were TG with DD and are TG for this bean. We just went in with a list of names for DD and picked the one that seemed to fit her best. She is definitely an Evangeline, which was not one of our top pics going in to the hospital, but it fit her so well.

We are doing the same with this bean. Not even trying to settle on a boy and girl name. Maybe it will be easier for you to bring a list of 3 or 4 names each and decide when you meet him/ her.

  • I'm only 40 weeks and we have no name but we will be in delivery room without a name at the rate we are going. We will never ever agree and it's frustrating
  • My family are known for procrastinating and being late with everything so why would baby names be any different? My sister had twins, so when they came early she didn't have names picked out yet. They were Baby A and Baby B for 6 DAYS! It was torture for the rest of us. My mom was also team green when she had me and my younger sister. She "knew" she was having boys...she could "just tell". So she had Steven and Michael picked out with us. So when we came out without penises she immediately had to start thinking of alternatives. Stephanie was turned into Steven after a couple hours. Michael on the other hand took my parents a full day to turn into Mika Lil. So don't worry, you are not alone. When my first, my husband and I couldn't agree on one so I said what I wanted the name to be at 6 months and stopped mentioning it. When I went into the labor the nursed asked if we had a name already and my husband informed me that I was more stubborn and won. This time we have a first name picked out but have been arguing about the middle name...so we will see who is more stubborn this time. :)
  • One of my twins got named the day she was born. We had 1 name picked out but couldn't agree on the 2nd. We agreed just before we went in for an emergency section. Then we decided who got what name when I met them. So mine were nameless for over 12 hours. This time we haven't even talked names yet. I'm 30+2 today. I'm not looking forward to this conversation and have been dreading bringing it up. He wants to name DS after him since it's a tradition. I don't.
