Trouble TTC

Back pain!

Ugh so I have recently had my back spasm out on me...the pain is very low, near the butt bone, and it pulls my pelvis back and makes it really difficult to walk. This happened right around possible implantation on my first IUI, and now this is my third, and it is happening again. Two questions, one--any tips on how to make this feel better on my own (can't afford acupuncture or chiro right now) and two--is there any way this is related to my IF treatment or WORSE, is it just random back pain that is possibly preventing implantation?? Crazy I know but I'm paranoid.

Re: Back pain!

  • Like ketchup, I have worked jobs where a lot of heavy lifting is required and I also am determined to do it myself and not ask for help (getting better at this now), so I deal with lower back pain too.  I doubt your back issues have any effect on implantation so I wouldn't worry about that.  To help with the pain I have found that stretching my hamstrings really helps, and doing easy ab workouts helps build muscle to support your back.  I really feel like going to a massage therapist has helped too.  I had a friend who dealt with back spasms and by working with a massage therapist she quit having them.  It's like $50 once a month and totally worth it IMO.  Good luck!

  • Obviously I can't tell what the actual problem for you is, but my lower back pain (which has been chronic since a few days into my first round of Bravelle injects) is because my lower abdominal muscles aren't working quite right. When I took the shots, my ovaries were sore so it hurt to use my lower abs and they got used to not being used. But that meant I could not counteract over-arching my lower back and other muscles in the area tried to do the job of my abs. Any exercise that forces me to use my lower abs to do properly seems to help the lower back pain. Examples include push-ups, front planks, stability ball roll-outs, stability ball stir the pot, and stability ball jackknifes (it's all about stability/isometrics).

Stretching helps temporarily, but it always comes back. Massage feels good but doesn't help my particular problem.
