3rd Trimester

32 weeks and still seen only once a month?

Hey all,

Just saw my Dr on Monday, and mentioned to her that now that I'm 8 months... I'll be seen every two weeks. She shook her head and said, "No, I'll see you in 3-4 weeks".

This is out of the norm, right? I've been expecting her to increase my visits by now. This is my first pregnancy, so maybe I'm wrong. Is is possible that everything is going just as she hoped, so I'm not a concern enough to be seen every two weeks?

Just wondering.

That's weird. At my office, visits increase to every two weeks starting at 28 weeks and then once a week starting at 36 weeks.

  • My visits increased to every 2 weeks at 28 weeks, but that said, they don't really do or say much at every appointment so maybe they just keep it monthly until closer to go time?

  • Our office started at 34 weeks to see bi monthly. Normal pregnancy with no complications. My sister in law had complications and had to go more often.
  • I started every two weeks at 28 w. That would make me nervous too!
  • I am going every 4 weeks until 36 weeks, and then bumping up to every 2. My last doc did it the same way, and these are two different practices/insurance companies in two different cities. Both of my pregnancies have been low risk and proceeding as expected. I'm comfortable with it.
  • I just had my 28 week check up. The doctor said I was right near the four week/two week appointment change. He said everything has been good so far and would keep me at four week appointments for now but if I felt anything at all to call. I think next time I will change to every two weeks but we will see. I'm not super worried about it cause I find these 10 minute appointments annoying. But I think you should ask if you feel it should be more frequent. Push for what makes you comfortable.

  • My OB starts biweekly appts following your 28 week appt. I'm 29 weeks and I go back next week and every 2 weeks till 36 weeks, then I change to weekly till baby is born.

  • Monthly until 36 for me. Then one at 38, 39, and 40.

  • I was seen at 32 weeks, 35 weeks then weekly. I'd rather go every two weeks and call if I need something inbetween.

  • Only started every two weeks after week 33. Then at week 35 I started weekly. My pregnancy has been very low risk though and I wasn't expecting differently. Every practice and doctor does things differently. But if you are having a low risk pregnancy that is probably normal.

  • My ob starts bi-weekly appts at 32 weeks
  • I started every 2 weeks around 34. Then at 36. Now weekly. I think every dr is different as is each pregnsncy.

  • My doc wont start two weeks until 35, then weekly at 39, i am having a c, so he wants to see me at 35, 37, 39 and thats it! Oh and it will have been 4 weeks since my last appointment at me 35 week check...

Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!

  • I have only been seen every four weeks, up until this past appointment. I was 31 weeks then, and he was about to have me start coming every 2 weeks, but changed his mind and had me schedule in 3 weeks since my pregnancy has been reasonably good. He just told me if anything comes up I should call the office and go in earlier.
  • I was every 4 weeks up until recently, because my pregnancy has been fairly healthy and uneventful. But now my BP is creeping up, he sees me a lot more often. We've only got 11 days to my RCS though...so he's confident we can keep the BP in check long enough to reach that 39 week mark. He just monitors me closely to be sure.

  • Thanks everyone! This is pretty much what I was assuming. My BP is totally normal, and I haven't been having any complications. The pregnancy has been uneventful, so it must be because of that. She says we'll go bi-monthly at 35 weeks. In the meantime I'm going to count my blessings.

Is it August yet???? I wanna meet this little girl already.

I was doing monthly appts until 31 weeks then my next appt was in 3weeks. At my 34 weeks appt My next appt was in 2weeks. At 36 weeks I will start going weekly. This preg is uneventful and I'm not complaining.
