I know we have discussed these before. I can not find the link. Anyway what is the carrier that can cause hip dysplasia? I am signing up for a few and wanted to make sure I was not getting the wrong one.
It's not so much that the carriers "cause" hip dysplasia, unless there's a family history of hip dysplasia or baby had a rough delivery and has hip issues, that's actually rather unlikely.
However, some carriers allow baby's legs to dangle straight down, which is not comfortable and could exacerbate an underlying issue. These are carriers like the Bjorn and others.
When selecting a carrier, it's best to look for one with an ergonomic seat (wide panel with deep seat), or a seat that touches baby from knee to knee and forms an "M" with baby's legs and bottom.
These are soft structured carriers like Ergo, Kinderpack, Tula, Becco, Boba, etc., mei tais like BabyHawk, CatbirdBaby, etc., and woven wraps and ring slings.
