I use a phone app to track feedings and diapers and it says I bf an average of 6 to 7 hours a day (in a full 24 hour day) at 6 weeks. (Wonder week days were over 8 hours! Eesh!)

    How about you?

LO is also still sleepy at the boob with lots of pauses and I'm feeding her now going on 40 minutes. These long feeds are exhausting/butt numbing and it makes feeding in public feel impossible because it goes on forever and she never pulls off. I pulled her off at my Obgyn office today just so I could start my appointment or I would have been there all morning!

  • @BrightEyes112‌ maybe try throwing them in the washer with a load of clothes? I have a rocking chair for DS1 and the straps come off with the rest of the cloth on the chair, I've washed it several times and everything's come out of the straps.
  • @BrightEyes112‌ try using a soft toothbrush and dipping it into a cascade dish detergent and water and scrubbing then that way. The bristles should help loosen what's in there and the soap whiten.

@BMaidPlanner‌ l feel your pain. I am in the exact same boat. Avg 6 hours eating, feeds last forever, Very rarely pops off on his own. I try to pull him off every once in awhile but he usually won't tolerate it. He also never naps for more than like 20 minutes during the day and only falls asleep on the boob, in the car, and in the stroller during the day.
NIP is hard because it lasts forever and my arms get tired. Went to dinner the other night and just stared at my food for a very long time. He finally fell asleep and I was able to eat with my non dominant hand (very messy) while holding him with the other since he wakes up as soon as I put him down.
I think he is just a comfort nurser but I plan to discuss with pedi at appt next week. I tried to get in with an LC but they are always full. I am Super jealous of every one that gets 2 to 3 hour breaks between feeds. Not sure what will happen when I go back to work next week.

LO tends to turn her head to the left and not to the right on her own. We saw a chiro today and she said she's going to try to get it corrected.

Does anyone else have experience with this? I'm trying to correct it while she's asleep but it usually ends up turned to the left eventually.

I'm having the same issue, except LO turns to the right. I've been taking her to the chiropractor and she's helping adjust it. She said we can work on massaging the muscle at home to help.
I also want to hear what others have to say...
LO has Torticollis as well. It's shortened muscle, and everything you guys are doing is what was recommended in our anti natal class. We are getting a referral to the physio on Monday.
@nelleebelle‌ @wareagle1220‌ @Babywear‌ check out the SAIF thread. Curlylocks is dealing with this as well and she posted about the pt she is doing with her twins to help correct it.

Ugh, yes! Is this something an LC could actually help with? My Pediatrician seems clueless about breastfeeding.

I don't know but I am hoping they can at least tell me if it's normal. DH is always worried that LO is not getting enough milk because I don't get much when I pump. He thinks that's why he's always nursing.

  • When did you or will you stop charting all your babies poos/pees and bottles/feeds? I'm using the total baby iPhone app. LO is now one month and I'm thinking I could at least drop the pee diapers (of which there are many).

I use the same app and I dropped the diaper charting after our 2nd day home! He pees sooo much that it would be a pain in the butt to mark them all down. I still use the feeding and pumping part and probably will for a long time.

@Internationalkate‌ I was just thinking about this today. DD will be one month on Monday. I use mine to track my pumping sessions as well so I will keep doing that and will also track feedings until we get onto a more set feeding schedule. We get plenty of wet diapers here too so it doesn't seem necessary to track those anymore.

Is the baby bald spot/hair thinning on the back of the head inevitable or is it an indication that she needs more time off her back?
If she sleeps on her back it's pretty inevitable.  As it is, a lot of babies lose the hair they are born with and grow all new hair.  Charlie is currently rocking on the monk bald spot, it matches my dad's :).

  • @MrsRahl‌ yes. Asked our pedi and she said it was normal as they are beginning to learn muscle control. As long as they wet plenty during the day you are fine.

  • @emilyh107‌ - when using mat and boppy for tummy time, we add a paci and setup a slide show of images in iPad for LO to watch. If we keep him distracted he likes tummy time and it lasts longer than 5 mins.

Ditto. DS1 was born with a beautiful head of dark hair and everyone said he looked just like me, then by 3 months he'd lost it all and it slooowly grew back in blond and I've had to hear ever since then how he is DH's mini-me. I am not growing attached to any of DS2's hair until at least a few months.

  • I had a question about the bumbo seat and when most of you will start using it. I have seen a few post pictures already using it and I wanted to start. H said he read an article to not use it until at least 3 months because it could cause spine problems. Has anyone else heard of that?

I've heard people who are against bumbos just are against them and their aiding in sitting for altogether. I've read they don't put LO in a correct seated position and are really just a babysitter. With that said, I use mine with my 7 week old for 5 minutes at a time because she loves to sit up and I just wanted to give it a try. She also has a super strong neck for her age I think and already holds her head up on her own. However I never let her in there alone and only for 5 minutes maybe twice a day.

  • @skittler2‌ My LO cough/gag sometimes when she chokes on her own saliva... Which DH and I thought it's hilarious. It doesnt seem to bother her once she coughs it out so we dont think it's an issue. She also gags when we give her a paci. She always refuses it first and then loves it after we keep it in her mouth for a few seconds. She cant fall asleep without a paci unless we hold her...

She gags when we give her the multivitamin drops which I don't blame her because it smells awful. I also give her a bit of BM afterward to rinse it off her throat so she doesnt continue to gag.

Was the blood right red or dark color? Bright red usually indicates "fresh" blood from straining to poop, where as a milk/soy intolerance will cause mucousy/dark blood.

It was a spot of bright fresh red blood, not mixed into the stool. Dr thought it was due to difficulty digesting proteins so he had us start on gentlease, but DS had lots of gas and was constantly hungry on that so we switched him to newborn....so far so good, and the most recent stool check was negative for blood. I have a feeling it was a fissure or something that the dr just couldn't see, his stool has always been soft but I can't think of any other explanation.

    Also.... ::farts louder::

  • So LO wants to be held all the time. I know some of you other mamas deal with this too. He won't go to sleep in crib, swing, or bassinet! I have to get him good and sleepy then DH swaddles him and puts him in the crib at night. We are lucky to get 2-4 hours until he is up crying wanting to be held. Then we start the process over again. What am I doing wrong? He's 10 weeks and should be sleeping more. Help!

  • @kaysa2 - DS had 3 straight days like that last week.. I think he was in the 6 week growth spurt. I was waking him up from 4 hour naps to eat.

He snapped out of it, though! I'm sure your LO will, too. They're constantly evolving, right?

Ladies, I am basically in the same boat. I'm exhausted. he's had a couple days where he actually slept, and I thought we were past that phase, but then it's right back to square one. I'm lucky if I get two hour stretches in his rock n play. PNP is totally out of the question. Swing only works during the day and has starting to reject that. I didn't even want the RNP. I wasn't crazy about it. But I got it for a gift, and it turns out to be the only thing he'll sleep in. And even that is rare.
ETA my LO is 6 weeks and one day.
Me too, except I sent DH to target the day after we got home from the hospital in desperation. Nothing worked!

I have been in the same boat until this week (7weeks old today). Now he's going 3.5-4 hour stretches. I'm hoping we turned a corner finally, knock on wood.

I think it's extremely rare for a EBF to have diarrhea. J has pretty much liquid poop and always has. The color will range at times depending in the mix for foremilk and hind milk. The only thing that is a problem is consistently only green diapers (too much foremilk all the time). But if you are worried, call your pedi and/or an LC

@Taymiller‌ - I take fenugreek and I do not experience any heartburn. Are you taking the pills or drinking a tea? I ingest mine in tea (EMAB milkmaid - it tastes good and added bonus it helps me relax). I will say when I increased to 3x daily, I had some GI issues and LO was gassy so I take it only twice daily.

@kaysa2‌ my guy did this too last weekend after nearly 2 weeks of nearly no daytime naps. I woke him up to feed at 3 hrs bc I was afraid he'd reverse his days and nights and I couldn't handle that again. He's back to normal now and is 9 weeks.
  • I have given my baby 3 bottles from frozen breastmilk. Each time he has not peed or pooped after. He does after the next feeding that I nurse. My mom said he sucks them down each time and seems very content after. These have been spaced out over a couple of weeks when my mom has babysat. It's only happened with frozen milk not milk I pumped that day.
I am going to call the pediatrician tomorrow, because it doesn't have the signs of being spoiled. I smelled and even tasted it! Just hoping I haven't given him bad milk!!!

If it were bad he'd refuse to take it or spit it up. As long as output is good in a day (5-6 pees) I don't think it matters when he poops/pees... As far as I know!
