TTC After a Loss

Post MC/D&C temps- same range as before the loss?

Quick charting question- my pre Ovulation temps were usually below 97.2. After O it would steadily climb to the low 98's. Would I expect those same temperature ranges post loss? Have you noticed your post-loss range being different, even if you're still seeing a noticeable shift after O? I know for the first few cycles it can be pretty wonky, I'm just wondering what your experiences were with this. Thanks! (Sorry this is similar to my "charting after a D&C post, but I forgot to ask this earlier)

Edit- I looked at my other post and I guess this was addressed in most of the responses. Sorry for the duplicate. My brain is mush right now.

Re: Post MC/D&C temps- same range as before the loss?

  • I didn't have a D&C, but my temp ranges have been similar post-loss.

  • I was just about to ask a similar question in the newbie checkin but will ask here instead- pre-loss my preO temps were 97.33-97.6, with post O temps 98.0-98.4 --- I started temping right after my D&C and my temps were all over from 97.1-98.4, got AF Sunday and now my temps are all in the mid-high 96's-- is 96 too low or are other peoples pre-O temps in the 96ish range?
Back story- I have no thyroid and am concerned I might be hypo since my D&C as I've been constantly freezing, have had dry skin and am having some joint pain. I go to my endocrine next week and plan on discussing with her, but y'all here I think will probably know BBT averages better than my endo (side note I already asked an OB friend who said she had no idea-- oye)

  • @lalalady54 - if you look at my chart from my BFP/MC, I had alot of temps in the 96's. But I was often taking my temp really early as in like 4-5am. I notice now with taking them later, they're higher. I never really thought about the fact that were sort of low. I charted a few cycles before I was on FF (I did it on paper). I will have to look back at those temps.

  • My temps were all still a little higher for several weeks post-D&C, pre-AF. They were also all over the place.... Same with after my most recent miscarriage. The month after my first AF, my temps went back to fairly normal.

  • Thank you @Greeneyes842‌, @HoldingOutHope‌ and @mpiemont‌ - I agree one every now and again is no big deal we are on day 4 so if it continues another few days I'll be more concerned, but because I'm neurotic I emailed my OB and endo anyways ;)

@lalalady54 - so I looked back at my previous charts from my prior 2 pregnancies (which were successful) before this most recent one (that ended in loss) and my pre-O temps were not nearly as low as they were for this cycle that I conceived my angel baby. Maybe just coincidence but one more thing for my crazy brain to "blame". So of course now I am neurotic and will be asking my OB to run blood work to check my thyroid. I have never had a thyroid problem before but now I want to look into it. My post D&C temps have all been pretty high, plus I'm sick now and had a 101 fever last night so I'm all over the place.

@mpiemont‌ can I intrude and ask my own temp question - I'm only just starting my 2nd cycle temping (shame on me right!) So is it weird that I never hit 98.6? I'm a hypothyroid lady. I've been wondering this and just wasn't sure where to ask

    PgAL welcome

  • My update is: My OB said 96-98 is no cause for worry :) (I asked my endo too, so assuming she says she isn't concerned as well- then wahoo :)) ) (Yesterday I did have a  97.18 AM temp, but today I was right back to 96.7 so who the heck knows what is going on, I am hoping I bump back up to 98 after O so I know all is well in my body :)

and @km30 just like PP said, I have never had a 98.6 temp when waking even when pregnant. So no cause for alarm :)

  • @lalalady54 Thanks for the info! I hope your endo has the same opinion on the temps. I'll probably still ask my OB to test my thyroid levels (because I am insane), but it's good to know it's not unheard of to be that low. I polled the girls in a FB group I am in and the results were:

"Mine varied - sometimes it was in the high 96s (96.5+) and usually it was in the low/mid 97s. It may also be affected if you are sleeping with a window open or otherwise getting chilled in the night. I think you're probably fine."
    "
Mine was usually low 97s I took my temp the last time around at 3am. I think you're fine"
    "
Ranged from upper 96s to low 97s."
    "
My lows were 96.7-96.8, averages in low 97's."

  • @mpiemont I am having my thyroid levels checked again too, I go Monday for labs, I know I am hypo, I just wonder if the loss didn't screw up my levels a little bit from the abrupt change in hormones etc, I am hoping it all levels back out.

FX your levels are just fine :)
