TTC After a Loss

fibroids... endometrium question

So when I went for my us where my MMC was discovered, the radiologist who had to deliver the news told me not to worry because the fibroids I have are not "pressing on the endometrium" so I "should be able to get pregnant again." I just remembered this little tid bit from that day and now I'm wondering what that means. I have googled, but google is the devil! LOL. I find a whole mix of information. I was just wondering if any of you ladies know what this could mean. I go to the fertility specialist on Monday to get a better opinion on these fibroids and if they need to come out or not. Of course when people hear your story and symptoms, you get a whole bunch of stories of other peoples' experiences (that ultimately have no bearing on my own), and how they have so many blah blah blah. I have a friend who is a nurse in Ob/gyn and she says she sees women who have tons of fibroids, big and small, who have healthy babies all the time.

Anyway, any info y'all have would be great. And if you don't, thanks for reading this anyway, lol.

I'm so sorry, fibroids are the devil. Like you said above, my situation has no bearing on your own, but I'll share a positive. I was able to have two healthy babies with giant fibroids. With my second, my uterus measured 24 weeks at my eight week appointment, so there was that. Both my babies were born at 34 weeks. The second I was actually induced, so I probably would have carried a few days longer.

My doctors believe that removing mine would actually hurt my fertility or I would have had these suckers out years ago. I hope that you get the best advice from your doctors. Feel free to complain all you want to me. These things suck!

  • I don't have any advice but sending ((hugs)). Stay away from Google and try to keep from worrying until you can talk to your RE. Ask if they will take a second look to ease your mind.

  • Fibroids are actually relatively common - about 30% of women are known to have them by age 35. For some reason they are more common in African American women (where closer to half have them). As you noted, really only your doctor can make a determination about whether yours will cause a problem or not. Generally they are not thought to cause miscarriage, though I have more than once wondered if mine did. I suppose it would be nice to have a definite reason one way or the other. I will be curious to hear your update on Monday.
