Nickname for daycare

Tyler has a Taylor in his class, so his teachers were kind of leaning in me to ok a nickname (they are very strict about only calling kids what parents want them to be called)

Which nickname should carry him to elementary school!

Re: Nickname for daycare

  • It was tie between Ty and Beau for me.
Ultimately I chose Beau, just because it's different.

And Jax thinks it's in the south so it would stick :)

I like Ty, it's DH's nickname. That or his initials TC.

  • I am not a fan of nicknames. I feel if you want to name your kid Ty you would have named him that. So I voted for Tyler. But, as he gets older his friends will more than likely give him one.

  • I'm not a fan of nicknames either. I love the name Tyler but if I had to come up with a nickname then I'd go with Ty. I only tolerate my nickname Colie or Cole because a lot of the kids in my family couldn't pronounce Nicole lol and it's just sort of stuck. My mom calls me Colie now

  • I love the name Tyler and Ty for short. Solid nickname that he could be called for years
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • My husband is Ty :) I am bias.

@WasNotWas‌, if you call him "Ty" sometimes than that's fine- which I think you do pretty often. Otherwise, tell them to suck it up. Tyler is not Taylor and vice versa.

This. If you are cool with Ty, then that's fine, but I don't feel like they should force the issue if you want him to go by Tyler.
  • I voted Beau, because I also love that name! It's #1 on my list if we have a boy. But really, Ty makes the most sense probably, and is the one most likely to stick. But if you love Beau, I would totally try it!!

  • I picked Tyler, it's his name. I'm not a huge fan of nicknames anyway. I think if a kid is old enough to want to go by a nickname (in this case Ty) that should be his choice, or if you already call him a nickname from day 1 that's fine.
I'm not sure I'd choose a nickname because daycare hinted at it though.

@wasnotwas Abby isn't walking or even standing yet despite months of cruising. Daycare hasn't said a word to me about it. I'm surprised your daycare thinks they need to have an opinion on it! That would annoy me too!
  • @wasnotwas we were at the pool a little while ago and another mother (stranger) said something about A walking. I said that she actually didn't know how to walk yet. She replied "she will walk soon, don't worry Mama!" I made no reference to being worried, but when she said that it made me a little worried, you know? People need to MYOB.
