Pregnant after ectopic

I am newly pregnant after four previous losses and two children.  My last loss was an ectopic pregnancy.  Does anyone have experience with being pregnant after an ectopic, and if so, what was your early prenatal care? So far, we are doing hcg quants yesterday and tomorrow and an ultrasound at 7 weeks.

Hi-I had a MMC, then an ectopic pregnancy with a ruptured left tube. I saw an RE before we were cleared to try again and then was monitored when we did try again. Unfortunately, my 1st pregnancy following the EP resulted in an early loss, a natural MC. 3 months later, I became pregnant with this current one, under a new RE.

That RE had me come in for bi-weekly blood draws to check betas and progesterone, beginning at 4 weeks. At 5weeks4, when my betas were over 2,000, I had an u/s to confirm intrauterine pregnancy. Both were plans set in effect before we even started trying, so I knew how closely my RE was going to monitor my progress.

I had an ectopic in march and am now almost 8 wks along with this bean. I was monitored when we were trying and then had bi weekly betas until I was just shy of five weeks along and then had an ultrasound which confirmed a sac. The next week I went in and had another which confirmed a yolk sac and the following week another which confirmed a heart beat. Having all the extra monitoring helpeded put me at ease that this wasn't going to be like last time. Congrats on your pregnancy and good luck! I know how scary it can be to be pregnant after an ectopic.

I had an ectopic in Dec which resulted in the loss of my left tube. I then had a mc in April. I am now 5w4d again. With the mc and this time my doc had me come in for an ultrasound at 5w3d to confirm uterine placement of the sac. She doesn't do betas. I am not sure why. If she does an ultrasound at 5wks and doesn't see anything on ultrasound then she will run hcg levels.

I had an ectopic before DS1. When I got pregnant with him, they did betas and had me in at 5 weeks to make sure the pregnancy was in my uterus and then did a follow-up u/s at 7 weeks.

I had an ectopic in Dec. With this bean, we did 2 beta draws as soon as I had a BFP to confirm doubling, then an u/s at 6 wks to confirm baby was in a safe spot. Since then (I'm 18 wks now) care has been the regular prenatal check up schedule for my doc, except I had one extra u/s at 10 wks to help with anxiety.

My most recent loss was an ectopic, so I feel your pain. I am actually on hold with my OB right now wondering if there is anything we can do to help reassure me. I'm scheduled for my first appt in 3 weeks, and I honestly am hoping there is something we can do in between (in addition to the #'s checks we did last week) to reassure me. It's a double edged sword, I want to have an u/s or something to let me know that all is well so far, but I'm also scared to go for fear that something could be wrong. Hang in there, lady!

Thanks everyone for your support.  As I said, my doctor has scheduled an ultrasound for 7 weeks, but I will be contacting her to discuss getting me in during my 5th week.  I have extra emotional baggage because I was on vacation in Florida last year when the ectopic was discovered and treated and now I am supposed to go to Florida next week.  I feel like I won't be able to emotionally handle that trip without first seeing that I have a uterine pregnancy.  Thanks again!

Because of my loss history (I had 4 but one was ectopic), they brought me in at about 5 weeks and monitored my HcG levels and did ultrasounds at each one to ensure the baby was inky uterus and not my tubes. They were able to see something in my uterus that early, so at that point I knew it was not ectopic. Good luck and congratulations!
