Ammonia. Detergent build up right? All my best bottom inserts reek as soon as they are peed in. Like, knock your socks off, eye watering reek.

I swear, I went almost 2 years with zero issues. Now I have CJs buildup on my Freetimes, which also weren't getting clean and now ammonia in my BBs.

As much as I appreciate the nanny and everything she does to help out, she's gonna have to be banned from diaper laundry till I get things right again.

Yeah, I think ammonia is from detergent build up. Multiple hot washes on clean diapers should help a lot.

Oh no I feel you, though. We were trucking along doing great, and it seems like we've been hitting problem after problem for the last month or so Hot water strip (with plenty of Dawn, obvi)!

All our troubles seemed to be in the beginning.  Now that we have our routine figured out, it is smooth sailing.  Hope you can pinpoint and fix your prob soon.  I know how much stinky diapers effing suck!!

I was going to suggest Cascade but I figured since TJ is a reg she already tried that first.

I soaked them in bleach in the bath tub overnight, then out them in the dishwasher with sand. It didn't work. Maybe cascade in the next dishwasher load.

This is important: Did you use actual beach sand, or some of that shit they sell at craft stores?

Pulled it out of the sand box in the back yard. Neighborhood cats sometimes use it as a litter box, but I figure pee and poo is pee and poo right?

Cookies can go stale? Cookies don't last long enough in my house to discover things like this.....even when dh tries to hide them in the freezer to make them last longer (out of sight out of mind doesn't work on cookies)

True story.  The year we were TTC G, I was really busy between Thanksgiving and New Years.  So I baked a bunch of Christmas cookies in early Nov. and put them in my chest freezer to use at Christmas time.  I forgot they were there.  Fast forward to March when I was two months PG with G, I found them.  And I confess, ate some in a moment of starving pregnant lady weakness.  They were still good!
