Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Sleep Sense Program anyone?

Anyone hear of the Sleep Sense program? Would love to hear others experience/opinion/feedback. Even if you never heard of it, here it is https://www.sleepsense.net/.html would you do it if you have already tried everything on your own?

Re: Sleep Sense Program anyone?

  • No she's literally not sleeping all night. She's up 5-6 times a night, wanting to be nursed back to sleep. I  heard the sleep sense was good at helping with sleep associations. Sleep training is not the same thing as cry it out, so no worries, I am definitely not doing that.

  • When my baby was up all night because she wanted to nurse, I took it to mean she wasn't getting enough calories during the day. I know a lot of people here to say 'feed by the baby's cues,' but all that got me was up all night feeding a hungry baby who 'forgot' to cue me all day.

So what I did was I feed her every 2 hours during the day. If she refused the boob, that was cool with me....she must not be hungry. But I literally offered every 2 hours. As we got closer to bedtime, I start offering every hour so she can really tank up before bed.

Boom. Insta sleep. Now she only gets up once (around 5am) to nurse after sleeping 8 hours straight. Then after that nursing session, she'll go back to sleep until 9ish.

We tried tanking up too:) but unfortunately during the night, she is not actually "eating" so I know its not a calories thing. She is just suckling for comfort and can't sleep without my boob :( I don't mind comforting my baby don't get me wrong, but I also can't take care of her and her 2yr old sister when I am this exhausted. We are literally up all night.
  • Will she take a paci?

i would be interested in seeing how this works...my 5 mo old sounds similar to yours..some nights after 3-4 wake ups i give up and bring her in bed and then she is just suckling all night...when she wakes she just moves face and head to latch no matter what..that is not a hunger thing... i can handle once or twice ...but those nights are very rare --i read weissbluths book and we have bedtime of 730 at latest, try napping  at least 3-4 x per day but her crappy inconsistent sleep has got me wiped..i shoudl be asleep now ! off i go ...all the best !
  • Night 3 and she slept her first long stretch last night! Before I get too excited, I'll wait a couple more days and come back with our update and how this program works. Wish us luck!
