TTC after 35

Saw an RE today

Hi all you lovely ladies!  I was a bit MIA last week as I was on a blissful vacation up in Vermont & New Hampshire. The first 4 days were with all women and babies. It was the first annual of what hopefully will be a recurring women's weekend.  It was refreshing and lovely.  I held a baby which was a really nice feeling.  I think it affected my ovulation b/c I O'ed a few days early and luckily my DH joined me in time. We BD on -3, -1, and 0.

Today I went to an RE for the first consultation.  This is the 6th month of actively trying and since I had an issue removing my Paraguard IUD last Feb (it broke!), I wanted to be sure there were no pieces floating around in my cervix.  Plus, although I'm REALLY HOPING we are pregnant this cycle and can do it naturally, it will be good to please my & DH's parents and the nagging thought that maybe there is something wrong.

The good news: He said my ovaries are beautiful and that I have plenty of eggs.  Also, there is no residual IUD up there.  So both of those are a relief.

The not-so-good news: I have a 1.8cm endometrioma on my right ovary and he said it COULD be the reason we're not pregnant.  But, my periods aren't painful and I have never heard of myself having endometriosis so I don't quite know what to make of it.

I'm going to move ahead with the next steps which are genetic screening, blood tests (I had like 10 vials taken today), and DH has to go in this week for bloodwork and semen analysis. Then if I get AF in 2 weeks (due on our 1 year anniversary!! That would be a great anniv. gift if we got a BFP!), I'll go in for baseline bloodwork and the dye test & saline test.

So that's where I'm at, ladies. Any comments/suggestions are welcome. XO Thanks

TTC#1 since Aug 2013, I'm 37, DH 41.
Maya Arvigo Abdominal massage (daily self care), plus TTC meditations.
I'm very sensitive to diet (gluten, avoid processed foods) and environment. Have a history of inflammation and tendinitis before going off gluten in 2009.
July 2014 - RE Visit #1: Eggs look good, Endometrioma on R ovary, HSG showed blocked R tube close to ovary. DH SA normal
DX: Endometriosis probably the IF cause and gunking up tubes.  Since egg reserve is high, RE says I can wait a couple months and then get laproscopic surgery to remove endo & clear tube.  If that doesn't help then move to IVF.
Dec 2014 - Saw new RE - does not recommend surgery on tube as it isn't likely to help.  Doubts I have endometriosis.  My endometrioma shrunk to neglible size (yay!)
Seriously considering IVF in March/April
12/17/14 - Natural BFP!

Re: Saw an RE today

  • Congratulations on your healthy ovaries and bounty of eggs! Sorry to hear about the endometrioma. Did the RE say what to do about that, if anything?

Here's hoping that holding that baby gives you a BFP vibe! What an awesome anniversary surprise!! FX for you!!

What is the next step regarding the endometrioma if you do have another cycle?
