? for those who have eliminated dairy

How long was it before you could see that it helped your LO?

If you tried and didn't find that it helped, at what point did you feel OK (or were advised) to resume dairy?

Any chance of reducing but not 100% eliminating helping (with moderate fussiness, spitting up, mucousy but notbloody stools, not quite enough weight gain)?

  • I have not has dairy on about 5 weeks. It takes a few weeks to notice a difference. We noticed that LO was less agitated and was spitting up a lot. After a few weeks I tried having some ice cream and DS spit up a lot a few hours later. My sister is a nurse practitioner and told me that some babies cab handle small amounts of dairy I moderation, just stay away from straight milk, cheese, butter, etc. I tried a muffin and it did not go well for me so dairy free it is for awhile. Good luck'

  • Eliminated dairy a week and a half ago because LO was so fussy/screaming. We noticed every day being a little better until four days in when I ate a croissant. That made it obvious that even baked goods have enough dairy to make one evening horrendous for both of us. Other than that blip, we have a different (almost always happy) baby.

    Did you eliminate soy, too, or just start with dairy?  What are you eating for baked goods if you can't eat any dairy?  I'm asking because I've been trying to stay away from dairy and soy for the past 1.5 weeks thanks to some mucousy diapers my LO has been having, and I haven't noticed a difference but totally didn't realize that the bagels I'm eating have dairy in them.  {Facepalm.... sleep deprivation.}

    I'm dairy and soy free. It can take up to 6 weeks for it to leave lo's system so although I noticed an improvement after about a week in spitting up and other symptoms, I am now just seeing more consistent "good" diapers. My LO doesn't tolerate any dairy/soy while others do better. Mosley it's just trial and error to see what works. Good luck!

  • I've on week 5 of elimination diet, but I've only cut obvious dairy, not hidden. I noticed improvement after about 48 hours. I've had a few slips with dairy and haven't noticed her behavior change much, so I might try to reintroduce dairy at 3 months and see from there.

    Our only symptoms were a rash, gas, fussiness, and mucousy stools.
