False negative pregnancy test

Hi Ladies,

Jut wondering how common it is to get a false negative test 5 days after your period is due. I have never in my life missed a period and now I am 5 days passed my period (started ttc last month)and I have taken 2 pregnancy tests, both resulted in a negative. I plan on waiting a few more days then calling my dr for a blood text. I spoke to a nurse who said if 2 tests were negative then chances are I am not pregnant but online seems like it's pretty common. Thoughts? Thanks for your feedback!

False negatives are very rare.  Most likely you ovulated later than usual.  Wait a few days and test again.

The internet is sometimes a terrible place for information. That said, you probably ovulated later than normally and that's what is making you think you're "late".

Negative tests mean you're not pregnant at this time. They're really accurate these days. A blood test would be a waste of your and your docs time. Check out the newbie blog at the top of the threads and learn about your body!

(Also, temping in the future would eliminate this question) good luck.

I can be a few days late typically, but ever since I had my daughter, I've been SUPER regular (minuse my m/c's) 2 cycles ago I was 3 weeks late. 7 negative pregnancy tests, and 1 negative blood test.

I would wait a week, and test again. Like PP's said you may have O'd late, and it's too early to test.
