DD had to change day cares and switch to a big girl bed before her baby brother gets here. Plus we're converting our dining room to a nursery for him, so I was a little concerned about DD adapting to all the changes. I was hoping to have her switched to her big girl bed in May, starting new day care in July, slowly making the nursery changes over the whole pregnancy, and then baby brother getting here in late-Sept/early-Oct.
Instead, everything is happening at once (except baby brother's arrival, obviously). She started new day care today (and was a complete champ at drop off!), we bought her big girl bed on Saturday, and it gets delivered in 2 weeks. We also bought new living room furniture to be delivered in 2 or 3 weeks (depending on when I can get rid of the old stuff), and we put up new curtains in the living room last night. The furniture that's currently in the "nursery" will have to get moved this weekend to make room for the crib and rocking chair to go in there the following weekend when the big girl bed arrives. So, it looks like everything is happening in July. Still unsure about decorating the nursery, though . . .
We talk to DD about all the changes all the time, and so far her reaction to everything has just been to be really stoked. She could not wait to get to new day care this morning. She's in the transitional pre-school room (for about-to-be 3 year olds before they start with the regular pre-school at 3), so we called it big-girl school, and hyped up the fact that she is going to pre-school now, and she was really excited. We're counting down every night how many more nights she's sleeping in her crib until her big girl bed gets here, so she's ready and on-board for that change too. She picked out her big-girl sheets over the weekend, too.

Finally, I'm in love with my new couch. I can't wait for it to be delivered.
Re: So much for spacing out the changes for DD. Also, AWing my weekend purchases and my DD.
Some kids are really good with change, sounds like she is one of them. I think making her part of the process (picking out her bedding etc) helps too. Isn't it great when everything just works out?!
