TTC after 35

AGAIN!!!!

So I started what I thought was a period on Saturday.  It wasn't heavy and we were going swimming yesterday so I threw on a tampon just in case.  Went swimming and got home still nothing extreme.  This is the second month like this.  What is going on???

Re: AGAIN!!!!

  • Normally-- a light period can be caused by a shift/imbalance in hormone levels. It can also happen if you suddenly have begun excessive exercise, and can also be from a thyroid condition. If you aren't doing excessive exercise, and if you don't have thyroid issues, I would probably talk to your doctor just to make sure everything is okay. I wouldn't be super worried, but it's always better to check.

  • I got everything checked a month and half ago when I was not getting my period and all my numbers were great.  I think it also could have been affected with the swimming.

  • Did you eventually get a heavier period, or did it then just stop completely? Ever since I can remember I've had one very light day, followed by a brief stop of 8 hours or so, and then my actual period came.
  •            Well I had cramps and some light bleeding on Saturday followed by light on Sunday, now there is nothing.  I recounted my days and tomorrow period is due so maybe its just the start of it.  We shall see.

  • I would give it until tomorrow morning. Do you have any cramping at all?
  • @marijaa333 Yeah going to wait til tomorrow and see.  I had cramping on Saturday night after coming home from dinner.

  • Man that sucks. I hate wonky cycles. But I agree with pp. if it is light again this month I would make an apt with your doctor.
If this isn't normal for you they need to figure out what is causing it. It's hard enough to get pregnant at our age you don't need another thing voiding trouble.

I hope AF gets heavier and you can get back on track.

    All welcome

  • That happened to me last year. But it only happened one cycle so I didn't seek medical advise about it. But hopefully everything will be fine, good luck
  • Well AF has arrived so I am actually delighted so I can start the process again.  I really didn't want to have to go to the doctor again!!

  • Good stuff! This kind of stop-and-go starts are totally standard for me (haven't checked anything out yet but judging by the internet testimonies, lots of people are the same way). You might want to just ask the doctor over the phone if it's a reason to check anything out again in your case. If you do, I'd be curious to know what s/he says too.
  • I spoke to the gyno and he said that it's normal to start light and bc I wasn't actual due til today then it fine and he reviewed all my results with me over the phone and he said I have plenty of eggs and that all my numbers are good except for vitamin d which I already started taking over two months now. We are going to PA for the weekend so when we come back on Monday we will start opk and bd'ing

  • Great! Thanks for reporting back and very glad to know it is normal.
  • That's good news =D>
  • Great news!
    TTC#1 since Aug 2013, I'm 37, DH 41.
Maya Arvigo Abdominal massage (daily self care), plus TTC meditations.
I'm very sensitive to diet (gluten, avoid processed foods) and environment. Have a history of inflammation and tendinitis before going off gluten in 2009.
July 2014 - RE Visit #1: Eggs look good, Endometrioma on R ovary, HSG showed blocked R tube close to ovary. DH SA normal
DX: Endometriosis probably the IF cause and gunking up tubes.  Since egg reserve is high, RE says I can wait a couple months and then get laproscopic surgery to remove endo & clear tube.  If that doesn't help then move to IVF.
Dec 2014 - Saw new RE - does not recommend surgery on tube as it isn't likely to help.  Doubts I have endometriosis.  My endometrioma shrunk to neglible size (yay!)
    Seriously considering IVF in March/April
    12/17/14 - Natural BFP!
  • It's always great news when getting AF is a welcome thing!
