TTC after 35

How was your 4th of July weekend?

Mine was a lot of fun! Thursday night we went to Red, White and BOOM (the big fireworks downtown) with my brother and sister. We stood about 50 feet from the fireworks. So pretty!

We then went to a lounge and drank a little, laughed and had good conversation. Friday the 4th we went to a parade called the Doo-Dah Parade which is full of funny things and lots of pop culture! Just hilarious!

Saturday my fiancé bought me a professional back massage (for my birthday), and afterwards, he said he was taking me to dinner. We got all dressed up for dinner and I show up, and all of my friends and family were there…he threw me a SURPRISE birthday party! I was so excited, and felt so loved. : )

After dinner, we went out dancing and had a blast! A really great weekend.

How was yours?

Re: How was your 4th of July weekend?

  • I caught Hand, Foot, and Mouth from my dd and ended up at a family wedding out of state in some serious discomfort, looking leprous, and unable to touch anyone or anything. Fun!

Then we drove back to Maine in the rain on the 4th. Couldn't celebrate MH's 40th birthday on the 5th, but instead took his mom out to breakfast for HER birthday (which is on the 6th). Then we finally just hung out as a little family for Saturday and yesterday. Which was awesome.

And now I'm in the 2WW, finally, so hoping for a little 4th of July conception juju!

I have been out of town working so nothing super exciting.  I went to Music in the Park on thursday which was kinda nice.  I'm flying out today so my real break starts now!

  • @tlc35 - I hope you have a safe flight, and have fun on your break!
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • We had friends over for a summery BBQ and we could just about see the big fireworks over all the rooftops. DC did very well this year with the display: lots of hearts, happy faces, letters spelling USA, etc., and of course the huge explosions of color. However, it was quite loud, even from two miles away, and we had a 3.5 year old visiting who loved seeing the light show but was really unsettled by the noise!
  • @JimBobCooter- We actually got a big cold front here in Ohio from Arthur. We went from shorts and tanks to long sleeved tops and jeans for the fireworks show. It then rained like crazy on Sunday. I'm sorry you were affected by it, but glad you still got a little fun in this weekend.

@marijaa- Speaking on children and noise: There was some idiot who took their newborn to the fireworks, and the poor baby was screaming on the top of it's lunges. Come on, people... *smh*
  • @lgdesigner - How sweet of your DH to throw you a surprise party! That is awesome! Any pics?

@danieleandwayne - So sorry you caught the hand foot mouth sickness! That was always my main paranoia when dd was a baby! I hope you're feeling better!

@tlc35 - Hope you enjoy your break! ;)

@JimBobCooter - Sorry for your sucky wet weather!

My weekend was good, expect for Saturday night when I got AF!
Thursday evening, we went to a BBQ and saw fireworks.
Friday evening, we went to my cousins house and saw the fireworks from his house.
Saturday, we went to a friends wedding. And yesterday, we just hung out and I took DD to the pool for a bit. A busy, but relaxing weekend! ;)

  • The weekend was pretty good actually.

We spent the 4th with friends poolside. Lots of good people, good food and yummy adult beverages!
The next day was the same except with my in laws. H's parents have a big pool so thats where we spent the 5th. Yesterday I slept in, did some housework and we went and had dinner with some friends and hung out for while. All in all a great weekend.

I did have my 17 year old D who did her best to ruin it for me but I just pretended I didn't notice the horrible attitude she had on display.

  • @TAT2MAMI - Yes-- I have a few pics. The weather was a little coldish (due to the hurricane) so I wore a dress to dinner, and then had to run home and change to jeans to go out dancing/drinking.

At dinner with family and friends!

Oh no, that's terrible!  Unfortunately I can totally relate.  The weekend before the 4th I forgot  my SPF chapstick at the beach. The next day my sunburned lip totally swelled (a nice botched botox look) up then exploded into a giant coldsore (so fast that it was too late for abreva).

So, leprous is exactly how I've been feeling too. While I've had to work, I'm so thankful I didn't have to go to a crowded airport or any social events over the weekend. So sorry for you :(

We did enjoy a quick 24-hour camping trip. The first afternoon we mostly sat around in the rain (which is actually a nice treat coming from Phoenix). Then the next morning, just as we were about to leave for a bike ride, we got a call from our neighbor telling us that our garage was flooding!  So, we booked it back home and DH spent the day fixing a busted water heater. :(
This weekend I have 5 days off and we're going to Yosemite NP - yay! Guaranteed to be better no matter what gets thrown at us :)

  • @lgsdesigner Wow - a baby at the fireworks? Poor kiddo!

Your pics are great! What a good looking couple you make.

I took it pretty easy, except for Saturday afternoon we went down to DC for lunch and then day drinking with friends. It was perfect weather for a rooftop margarita.

I had killer a migraine on the Fourth (I get them before I ovulate, and I guess I REALLY get them when I ovulate on letrozole), so I decided to skip the fireworks and binge watch Justified.
Me: 38 DH: 40 TTC#1 (and likely only) since 9/13. Saw RE 5/14, SA good, AMH 2.36, FSH 7.2, estradiol 69.6 indicating good egg reserve. Using OPKs. First Letrozole cycle 6/14, a burst cyst and a BFN. Second Letrozole cycle 7/14, BFN.

Update 11/14 - had laparoscopy 10/28, good news is that my uterus and left tube look good, and they were able to drain the cyst on my left ovary. Bad news is that right tube and ovary have endo and scar tissue, so they're pretty useless.. Best news is that we finally have some answers and a path forward. Taking 7.5 mg letrozole CD 2-6 to put that good left ovary through its paces.

UPDATE 2/2015 - We switched to another fertility clinic, but fortunately we don't have to start all over. We're doing two cycles of Clomid plus IUI, if neither of those take, we'll do IVF in April, potentially with ICSI. (DH's SA has gone downhill, likely due to excessive exercise.) IUI#1 2/25/15....
  • @Austrogermokee - Oh man...a migraine BEFORE you O? That doesn't make BDing very fun! But hey-- I am glad the margaritas made up for it. Margaritas, in my world, make EVERYTHING better.

@KirstenAlecia - I am sorry to hear about your daughter. Like I said-- one day she will come around. Until then...that damn teenage anger lurks. ((hugs))
  • Yeah, pre-O BD tends to be rather perfunctory, since, "not tonight, I have a headache" wouldn't be very bright.
