  • What was the reason the chick thought it wasn't OK to eat popcorn?

  • I've heard the kernels can actually pass through your intestines into your breast tissue, then the hard little pieces get into baby's mouth and cut them! So much sad!
You're going to make me pee myself and its too early for that!

  • Dude. Why do crazy / stupid people continue to procreate?

This is a valid and legitimate question... At least I think it is.

  • Wow people are rude! I was shocked when I was told not to eat lunch meat last week by my mother in law. I was obsessed with books and what not to do and what to do with my first pregnancy at age 19. This is my second pregnancy at 25 and I have never heard of not eating lunch meat. Don't let people discourage you. If you have any concerns call your doctor. They should answer your question. If they laugh it off at you, find a new dr! I know what it's like to be young and pregnant for the first time. When you hear/read something that you are doing is bad for you or your baby it is very scary and shocking. You are striving to do everything right. You did the right thing by stopping the gum. If something concerns you that much , stop doing it until you know for sure. You are allowed to have stupid questions. It shows how concerned you are about taking care of yourself and your child.

Lunch meat is fine. I ate Subway damn near every day for lunch while pregnant. My son doesn't have a third eye. The healthy fruits and vegetables that no one warns you about are actually what should worry you more. I'm going to go ahead and assume that you know exactly what I'm talking about since you've done so much 'research'.

Common sense can go a long way, honey. When it's actually implemented.

  • @Jsmarsh13‌ lol seriously? I was a young mom too and you know what's ACTUALLY terrifying? When a doctor tells you your infant can be born with xyz problems from being premature. NOT omgzzz don't eatz gum from "mature" adults. You're going to get a lot of bs advice and that's when you do your research.

If it's really that "scary," call your doctor. Don't go to the interwebz and ask for opinions because you will get them!

Guess I was not concerned at all during either of my pregnancies.  You are doing all new mothers a disservice by encouraging irrational over reactions to everything.
  • I'm not saying I agree the way she handled the situation by going on the internet. I am not a bully and will not make her feel bad for posting on here. I didn't give my expertise. I said ask your doctor. Meery, I never said that I agreed with the lunch meat or had any expertise. I was giving an example of something I have never heard of not to eat while pregnant that happened recently. I am also eating a lot of subway which prompted my mother in law to say that to me. I googled it and theres a chance of listeria in lunch meat. It can cause serious complications or even death. It is RARE. Last week they found listeria in a bread factory in my town. Am I going to stop eating bread all together? No. But I probably won't buy that brand of bread for a while. Am I going to stop eating lunch meat? No. Scgmama I am so sorry and could agree that is more scary than a question about chewing gum. I can understand why that makes you angry. But to me, it's your doctor. If something is concerning a girl that much to ask for help. She should call or wait for her next appt and ask. I know I've asked a silly question before. It's not the end of the world.
