Anyone doing timed intercourse? sorry I'm on a posting rampage today : )

So I tested negative yesterday and today (CD11/12) and will be going in for my beta Tuesday unless AF shows up. I'm feeling really down so far, but I know it isn't over till the blood test. Do to my INSANE anxiety I'm already thinking about next cycle. My RE does B2B IUI's 24/48 hours after trigger and the more I read the more it seems success increases with IUI done 36 hours after the trigger shot. My RE does not do this, so I'm thinking because my DH has super sperm and I respond extremely well to clomid I will try the TI route instead of an IUI so I can make sure we BD at exactly 36 hours after the trigger. I wanted to see what everyone's thoughts were on timed intercourse as opposed to an IUI. My other issue is that my DH will have an INSANE work schedule the next few weeks so he wouldn't be able to give a sample anyway this cycle, so it's either 100% natural or medicated and TI. Any thoughts, info, experience would be great. 

Sorry I'm on a posting rampage today/yesterday, but my anxiety is at an uncontrollable level right now and constant researching these topics is the only cure

There's no reason that you couldn't do B2B IUIs at 24 and 48 hours and then have TI in-between.  Honestly, if I were in your position, that's exactly what I would aim for.  FX that this is all just hypothetical and that this is your cycle!

Thanks SweetS. My RE told me not to have sex the day before or between IUI's, but I guess I should have anyways, since my DH has a really good sperm count. Good point though!

I was supposed to do an IUI this cycle. As my luck would have it I got a positive OPK on July 3rd. RE was closed on the 4th and thought doing the IUI on the 5th was too late. So I did TI with Clomid this cycle. If I wasn't paying OOP I would have done the IUI anyway.

I think TI all depends on your situation, I can't see your signature, I'm mobile, to know your dx. I didn't do an IUI just TI because my problem is egg quality. I even did get preg 1 out of my 3 cycles but it was a cp. My RE told me it wouldn't increase my chances so we didn't bother with it. Now if we chose another medicated cycle where I have 5 mature eggs again I'll defiantly do an IUI only because sex is VERY painful when your ovaries are full.

I don't see where an IUI at 24 and 48 hours could be all that bad. You don't ovulate until after 36 hours after trigger and sperm can live a little while in you. Also after you ovulate the egg can live for about 12-24 hours. I've always thought the B2B IUI was a good idea then again I've never had one so I could be talking out my ass.

You have to do what feels right for you. If you are uncomfortable doing an IUI don't do it. Whatever you decide Good luck!

Hoping you won't have to worry about a next cycle (!) but in case you do, my RE told me something at my IUI appt today that I thought I'd pass along with regards to the IUI and Clomid. Apologies in advance if it's TMI:

I mentioned to her that on the two courses of Clomid I definitely noticed almost no cervical mucus whatsoever (dry!) and when I'm not medicated I always seemed to have a good dose of the egg-white around ovulation. She said that's a very common side effect and when you do the IUI you're basically bypassing the need for that nice mucus to keep the sperm happy, because it's being placed up higher where it needs to go.

Anyway, I don't know if that's a side effect for you too, but it certainly makes doing the deed a lot more uncomfortable for me, so in my case I think doing the IUI boosted my chances.

On the flip side, I'll tell you that at our first unmedicated IUI my husband did the sample at home and we were super stressed and rushed between work obligations and hence his sample was very minimal in terms of quantity -- all of the other tests and samples have looked great --  so maybe that's more of a reason to not try and squeeze that in along with everything else you have going on.
