Have any of your LOs had a UTI yet? We saw the pediatrician yesterday who told us that if my lo's fever doesn't break by Monday they will test him for a uti, which means a catheter. He's had a fever for 5 days so far. I'm scared of the catheter process and was wondering if anyone else has gone through this and could provide any insight. Thanks.

DS had to have catheter as part of a test at the ER. The nurse prepared us on how he was going to scream bloody murder and how we would have to hold him down. (She also asked if I wanted to leave the room, I didn't). I was pretty much in tears before it even happened just thinking about DS hurting. When they did it DS barely flinched and didn't make a sound. Hopefully if you do have to go the catheter route is turns out as well as ours did. Prepare for the worst but hope for the best. You might ask and see if they want to do a pedi bag first. Basically they tape a bag on and wait for pee. It's less sterile, but easier on the babe.

So the nurse prepared everything but right as she was about to put the catheter in he started peeing and she caught it in the cup! No catheter necessary! It was such a relief. No uti either so it was a pretty good visit. Thank you everyone for your concern.
