cramps after IUI

Hi Everyone,

Although I am not a very active member in these boards and mostly go from one board to another looking for similar experiences of what I have, I am always posting one or two posts around, but here is a quick summary of me:
I am 29 and DH 34. We have been TTC for almost 2 years now and started IF treatment. I took clomid + trigger shot+ IUI this month. Since I did the IUI, I have been feeling lots of cramping, just like if I had my period. I have been taking progesterone too twice a day. 
Have you had the same cramping when you guys had some IUI or so? I was wondering if this is because of the progesterone... What is your experience after IUI?

    Yes to cramping after both IUI and progesterone. It sucks. Fx this cycle works out for you.

    Official diagnosis: Unexplained IF. I am 32. I have low ovarian reserve (low AMH), and poor egg quality. I've also been diagnosed with mild glandular developmental arrest (lining problems, detected with EFT).

    We are using open ID donor sperm. IUIs #1-7=BFN. IVF September 2014 antagonist protocol, 8R,5M,3F, 5 day transfer of 1 morula = BFN. IVF#2 planned for January 2015 (antagonist protocol + HGH).

    I had my first IUI last month and also had bad cramping throughout my LP-total mind fuck I must say. I'm on CD 2 right now so it obviously didn't work for me this time but I hope it does for you.

    I took 50 mg of clomid days 3-7 and O'd on CD 17 and my ovaries felt like they would burst if someone tapped me on the stomach.

    I had my first IUI last month and I had really bad cramps. But I get bad cramps after there is anything going on in that area, except for bedding. During my last u/s I had killer cramps.
    Me: +35 DH: +35
    TTC: Since January 2013 
    DX: PCOS. Severe Endometriosis, Unicornuate Uterus w/only left tube and left ovary, Pedunculated fibroid (on the outside of uterus) and Anovulation. All conditions diagnosed 8/13
    TX: Metformin
    DH DX: MFI - low morphology, low motility
    Ultrasound shows both kidneys in spite of UU. 
    HSG showed clear tube on the left side. 
    Lap Surgery performed 1/9/14 to remove fibroid and endo (Stage 3)
    • IUI# 1 June 2014 started 100 mg of Clomid - 7dpiui Progesterone: 13: BFN
    • IUI#2  July 2014 started 100 mg of Clomid - 7dpiui Progesterone: 5.75: BFN
    • Natural Cycle - so shocked to be in 2WW - 7dpo Progesterone: 15.5: BFN
    • Working with new RE starting injectables in late August.
    • IUI #3 August 2014  w/ Menopur: BFN
    • Finally ovulating on my own!!
    Waiting to start IVF hopefully

    A had a ton of cramping after first (attempted) IUI last cycle - off and on after procedure, then constant and strong about a week before AF. I was not on progesterone, but I was taking estrogen to thicken the lining.

    I had my 2nd IUI a week and a half ago. It started out with mild cramps starting day 2 then increased in intensity by day 7. I'm also in the progesterone, so not sure if it's a side effect of that.



    Married since April 2009
    TTC since August 2011
    Dx Unexplained IF
    May 2014 #1 IUI w/Clomid/trigger/progesterone = Chemical pregnancy
    July 2014 #2 IUI w/Clomid/trigger/progesterone = BFN
    August 2014 #3 IUI w/Clomid/trigger/progesterone = BFN

    October 2014 #4 IUI w/Clomid/trigger/progesterone = BFN January 2015 #5 IUI w/injectables/trigger/progesterone = BFP

    I had such bad cramping after last month's IUI.  I have had 2 IUIs before and never remember cramping like that.

    Yep, sounds normal to me. I had bad cramping day of IUI and mild cramping for more than a week after while on oral prometrium.

    Me: 29; DH: 53
    TTC since February 2013 --- mild thin PCOS (or not, depending on which RE you ask), MFI

    TI#1: BFN (April 2014; Clomid 50mg x5 days, Estrace x5 days, Clomid 50 mg x4 days)
    IUI#1: c/p (May 2014; Letrozole 2.5 mg x5 days, Estrace x5 days, Bravelle 75 IU x10 days)
    IUI#2: abandoned... O'd early & DH hormone issues (June 2014; Letrozole 2.5 mg x5 days, Bravelle 75 IU x2 days)
    IUI#2.1: BFN (July 2014; Letrozole 2.5 mg x5 days, Bravelle 75 IU x4 days)

    Moving on to IVF. (Why we're moving on to IVF)

    IVF#1 (w/ICSI): BCP 9/9-9/23. Gonal-F, Ganirelix, Low-dose HCG (antagonist protocol). 41R/35M/32F... 2 transferred on 10/14, 14 frosties! On cabergoline to help avoid OHSS. BFN, possibly because of 90% drop in estrogen and progesterone a few days after ET.
    FET#1: Transferring 2 on January 8. BFP! beta#1 (1/17): 408, beta#2 (1/20): 1310, first u/s scheduled 2/5

    Oh Thank you ladies! It sounds like it might be very normal then... I just hate it because usually I have bad cramps during my period, so I have a feeling this whole month will be so much fun... :/
