Re: Loss check in

  • Have you taken any new steps towards healing this week?
We have been attending a perinatal bereavement group which has been really good. I've been trying to get outside everyday and do some walking. (I was told not to do too much activity until after 6 weeks. I'm at the 4 week mark for now. I look forward to running and just being able to workout more.)
What is the next goal you have set for yourself? Do you have a plan to help achieve that goal?
Next I plan to set up an appointment with a grief counselor thanks to the advice from people at the group. Many people at the support group recommended seeing grief counselors to help with the healing. I received some recommendations from people in our group. So I plan to follow up from there.
QOTW: Did you have a nice fourth of July? Canadian ladies, any fun summer plans? On the 4th we just took it easy -  it's been 1 month since we said goodbye to our son.

Glad your group was helpful, and I've found therapy very benefcial. I still go about once a month and I lost my daughter 16 months ago.

  • Have you taken any new steps towards healing this week? Hmm. I think so. I just got back from a vacation and was able to relax. It was good for me, and much needed

What is the next goal you have set for yourself? Do you have a plan to help achieve that goal?
Continue to be healthy is always my goal.

QOTW: Did you have a nice fourth of July? Canadian ladies, any fun summer plans?
I did. We were on vacation and it was great.

Some small ones. We attended another child loss support group. It was different (the other families lost adult children) but it was helpful to have a different perspective.

Last night we were at a party for a friend and there were two babies there. One who was born in March (when we lost Ben) and one who was a few weeks old (like Ben should be). It was hard but I took at thirty minute break and then was able to rejoin the party. I was proud of myself for making it through.

What is the next goal you have set for yourself? Do you have a plan to help achieve that goal?
Trying to get back on track with my weight loss. I've gone to the gym once a week the last few weeks. This week I'm going to try to go twice and be more active on days I don't go. Dd was sick at the beginning of last week so were housebound for a while.

QOTW: Did you have a nice fourth of July? Canadian ladies, any fun summer plans?

It was ok. Dh and I decided we will probably never be as happy as we once were because we will always wish Ben was with us.

  • Have you taken any new steps towards healing this week? I am about half way through making my first baby blanket to donate. I am still fairly new at crocheting so it is taking me a while, but it has been really therapeutic to work on something that I know will give another loss mom comfort.

What is the next goal you have set for yourself? Do you have a plan to help achieve that goal? Still trying to get back into shape. I've been doing pretty good but this weekend I splurged a little, so I'm trying to back on track this week.

QOTW: Did you have a nice fourth of July? Canadian ladies, any fun summer plans?
We had a nice weekend. We spent the 4th at the lake with my family and spent the 5th with my husband's family. His sister, who is due in about 3 weeks, was there and for the most part I was OK.

    Asher born February 5, 2011.

Baby #2 born sleeping at 20 weeks. May 6, 2014.

Have you taken any new steps towards healing this week?

We started planning something special for the boys on August 31st.  That is the day we found out we were pregnant.  I should have known it was twins from the beginning - I got a super strong positive (even darker than the control line) about 10dpt.
What is the next goal you have set for yourself? Do you have a plan to help achieve that goal?
No real goals yet.  I have been thinking about starting a local loss group, something along the lines of a book club.  I haven't dedicated myself to it yet, though.
QOTW: Did you have a nice fourth of July? Canadian ladies, any fun summer plans?
Four of July was pretty tough.  I hate holidays without the boys.  I kept thinking of the fireworks they were missing and wondering if they would like them.  I pretty much hid in the house all day so I wouldn't have to deal with it.
  • **Rant Warning** Have you taken any new steps towards healing this week? Back in the hospital (emergency) twice this weekend because of severe blood loss. The first time they sent me back home, the second they asked why I waited so long to come in because it was serious (ironic, right? I was only home for roughly 24 hours). I know those aren't the healing steps we usually talk about, but I so so so hope that this stupid second D&C worked for physical healing. The night in hospital was full of tears for everything, but they didn't put me in the maternity ward to recover this time which was so so much better. I'm glad to have lots of support but just so frustrated. My counsellor suggested I write a(nother) letter to Serenity, so I'm hoping that will help with the healing. What is the next goal you have set for yourself? Do you have a plan to help achieve that goal? Just get better. My plan is to be as annoying as possible to as many doctors as necessary to get this figured out. I think they've decided it's done, but I'm not convinced. So many conflicting test results. QOTW: Did you have a nice fourth of July? Canadian ladies, any fun summer plans? Our 1st of July was actually great! I was up for going out (for the first time in a long time) so we went to see the fireworks with friends. Summer plans are pretty up in the air right now with me being in an out of hospital so often. I have high hopes that it will change. Prayers and positive thoughts!
