Doppler

Hi ladies,

I've searched for this topic and can't find an existing thread, but if I missed it, please forgive me.

For those of you who used a Doppler at home with your twins, when were you first able to hear them?

I haven't tried yet (9 weeks tomorrow), but don't want to until I think it will be worth it.

Thanks for any input!

Re: Doppler

  • I found them at 10w2d. I didn't have it before then so I don't know if I would've found them sooner. I was able to clearly distinguish two HBs. After that though it was harder to distinguish them for some reason. Maybe the first time was a fluke. Now that I'm further along and have an idea where they are I can distinguish them again.

  • I didn't use one at home until 30+ weeks but that's because I'd been on HBR and used to hearing them each time my vitals were checked (2-3x/day). I'd wait til 2nd tri unless you wouldn't get freaked out if you can't find them. It's hard to distinguish 2 HBs and can be frightening if you aren't sure who's who.

  • I heard at least one!!!!!!
I found it hard to find but surprisingly easy to determine what was mine and theirs. I can't wait for DH to get home now......although I have to pretend like I haven't heard it yet because he'd kill me if I didn't share that moment with him!! Lol!!

  • We didn't get our Doppler until 11 weeks, but could hear them as soon as we tried.

Just wanted to add that I don't have a lot of extra padding or other circumstances that make the heartbeats harder to hear.

  • @MissEm15 I got the Sonoline B.  I heard them two days in a row, so I don't think I'm dreaming, although it sounded like a dream.  :)

  • 10 weeks, most of our issue was knowing where to listen and for the correct sound.  luckily with the twins the nurse actually wanted to hear them to be sure they were moving early on so we quickly learned.
    Twins on the way!
