Hello all I am new to this forum. I had hsg done in October because my husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for 2 years and unsuccessful. The hag showed right tube was blocked but the left was opened. I went to a infertility specialist and she did an ultrasound and it showed that I had hydropshalinx in the right tube. My ovaries uterus and cervix looked good in the ultra sound. I went in for lap surgery to remove my right tube Monday. Come to find out the left tube is twisted but opened so she left it in. The doc said I am high risk for ectopic pregnancy because of the twisted tube. The right tube is removed now. I am very upset because I was under the impression the left tube was ok. She tried untwisting it but said it was stuck to the ovaries and didn't want to ruin the ovaries. I feel lost like my only option is ivf. Does anyone have any experience with one tube that's twisted and one removed?

Sorry you're dealing with this. ((hugs))
I believe that I started my TTC journey with one good tube, but there's no way to be certain. Pretty soon after we started trying, I had an ectopic in my right tube, and an appalling idiot of a doctor didn't catch it for a weeks (long story), so it completely ruined the tube, although it's still there. As an aside, I now worry about hydrosphalinx ruining my IVF chances, so having them taken out isn't a bad thing.
As for the other tube, I'd thought it was okay, but my new RE took one look at the HSG and said that the left tube was also a no-go. It's a long and convoluted path from ovary to uterus on that side. This would explain why we've never gotten pregnant on our own in the almost two years since the right tube was ruined.
So, I'm not sure what you mean by a twisted tube, but I think both of mine now count. I too worry about more ectopic pregnancies, which is one reason I'm not invested in trying on our own any more. I'm not sure what you're hoping to hear from us, but if your remaining tube is questionable, I would definitely say IVF is the way to go. I believe that the risk of ectopics is much lower, although it is still possible.
It is definitely hard to come to terms with the idea that assisted reproduction is the only way to get pregnant, and I think there's some grieving that must come along with that, as @IFinTN said. If you can financially manage it, it's a really good plan. As for the cost-benefit analysis of trying on your own relative to the risk of an ectopic, only you and your doctor can determine that. It's always worthwhile to get a second opinion on these things.
