prepping question

I'm sure this has been asked before but I couldn't find the thread when I did a search.

I just got four new Thirsties hemp inserts and need to prep them. But running 4 inserts through three washes seems like a waste. How should I prep them ? Boil? I've never boiled any cloth so no idea how that works.

I wash them once with towels then start using them and washing with my regular diaper laundry. I just don't use them expecting the full absorbency (ie alone for three hours or ON) until they've been washed four to six times.

Boiling IMO is a pain inthe ass.

I boiled my last package of flats because there were only 6. My pot was only large enough to hold 3 at a time, but it was pretty easy because it wasn't a lot to do. Since they are just inserts you could probably just boil them in one batch. Or run them trough with towels in the washer - that's what I did with the last few prefolds I bought.
