Update from 2nd tri.post

My husband had them officially cancel the baby shower. He spoke to 2 of my 3 sisters and with the late timing and no one really consulting him or listening to my wishes, there is no way I will be in any shape to enjoy a shower at 34 weeks and 5 days.  They had already put together a list that did not honor the friendships I have and left us no other choice.  

I'm very sad and disappointed in my family.  Their lack of planning and of disrespecting the wishes I had communicated multiple times of nothing later than July due to our circumstances just completely threw me AND my DH for a loop.  There is not much one can say other than I'm just mostly sad and want to focus more on what I need to accomplish in the less than 12 weeks I really have left.  

Being hit with the GD diagnosis and dealing with my BP 3x a day, is enough.  I so want a healthy set of baby boys after all of this. I know that no one said this journey would be easy, but I do question why it has to be harder as time progresses.  

I'm saying prayers and trying to look for some relief from this UTI now that i have meds.

I'm so sorry.  My sisters inlaws did that to her too.  she is 37 weeks and her shower is next Saturday with their family.  I hope she goes before then!  I told them she did not want a shower that late and they said oh its not a shower it is a bbq with the family.  If that was the case why did I get an invite to a shower.  I don't understand why people don't listen to the wishes of the mommy.  It blows my mind.

I'm sorry that it isn't working out.  I liked a suggestion in the check-in, do you have a friend who you could vent to about the situation and see if they maybe offer to have a small shower or even a virtual shower for you?  If not, it sucks but it will still be OK, good friends and family will probably still send gifts to help out.  And I'd just try to focus on the fact that in a couple of months, shower or not, you'll have 2 (hopefully) healthy baby boys!

I am genuinely mad on your behalf. Why didnt they consult you about the date ahead of time? That just seems like normal manners- they should have asked you for a list of dates, or given you a list of possible dates, and then made the decision and moved on. If none worked for you- you would have known and been able to decline the shower earlier. If none worked for them, then that discussion should have happened already at this point. If someone is on vacation- they just don't go to the shower. They could send a gift later if they wanted to.

 I'm sorry they're making this so difficult. I'm sorry that you're not going to have the shower you envisioned. I know that through this IF process, it was one of those things I was really looking forward to. What about planning a sip and see a few weeks after the boys get here? Then you control the date, etc. That way you still get to have the shower experience that you wanted, and the adorable little boys get to be there!

Glad your hubby was able to help.  I hope the meds kick in soon and the UTI clears up ASAP.  More {{{{hugs}}}} to you!  Hang in there, you are doing a great job cooking those babies so try try try not to let the stress get to you.

I am so sorry you are dealing with this.ni don't understand why some people refuse to honor the wishes of the mommy to be regarding the timing of things like showers! Now that it is cancelled, try to relax and feel better!
