Cloth Diapering

washing machine help!

I have a huge problem!
have a top loader washing machine (a rather old one I guess) and I put my diapers in and ran a rinse. When I came back it was still full of water! I can't get it to spin. If you run a rinse cycle it will start, so the machine still has power. Any idea on what might be wrong or how to fix it? Or what to do with my diapers in the meantime? They are just sitting in the first rinse water.

Re: washing machine help!

  • We need to get ours fixed to. But if I open/close the lid, the water will start draining out. Otherwise, it goesthRough all the wash/rinse cycles in the same water. Google said it's likely a lid switch or timer issue. If it's not draining atall, then check the hose. At our rental property, our tenant managed to get a bandana stuck between the stationary part, andthe moving drum. It's kinda hard to describe, but towards the top of the drum, there's a gap, and if you overload it, things can potentially get sucked up.

I found out my lid switch was broken, so it wouldn't spin because it thought the lid was open. My awesome hubby fixed it temporarily, and I was able to finish my diaper laundry! now I have to see if I can find a new switch, but if not dh says he can fix it permanently! Hooray for handy hubbys!
