Is anyone else having their LO evaluated by EI? Planning to? Already have and receiving services?
I just opened a case to have DD2 evaluated for gross motor skills and feeding skills. I called EI on Monday and met with the case worker today. I'm impressed with how quickly this is going!
The background:
When held up, DD2 curls her legs under and won't really bear weight, she falls backwards when sitting fairly often, once on her back, she doesn't make any attempt to move and doesn't roll over. I knew she wasn't doing as much as DD1 was at this age, but DD1 is very advanced so I was trying not to compare, pressure, etc. Her daycare teacher raised it with me though so I decided to have her evaluated. But, for the past week, me, DH, and her teacher have been working with her a bit more and she seems to be making some progress. I had to step away from Dr. Google when I was researching this stuff.
For feeding, I still don't feel comfortable giving table food/BLW, even though I did it with DD1. I don't feel like she handles the food well in her mouth and I think she's often struggling with the bigger pieces. I don't think DH sees that, and at daycare she #eatsallthethings but with me, it's tough. Also, when BFing, she will only eat during letdown (I have a really fast letdown). Once the flow slows down and she has to work for it, she just gets pissed. I had thought she was just picky, but now I think it's better to have someone check it out.
Apparently, if you have 1 concern, the child needs to show a 33% delay. If you have 2 concerns, the child only needs to show 25% delay in either area. So I guess it makes more sense to have both evaluated anyway.

DD1: born 1/19/11. DD2: born 10/10/13

I would highly recommend having your DD evaluated, it can't hurt at all.
