opinion about names

so with our last pregnancy we discussed a boy name we liked.  We then lost the baby.  Its still the only boy name we like. A friend told us we shouldn't use the same name because we wanted it for the last pregnancy.  But we never wanted to find out if the last baby was a boy or girl so I don't know.  Whats your opinion on that?

My opinion is don't let your friends (or anyone) dictate your decisions. It all depends on how you and your SO feel about it, and that's it.

Uneek pretty much summed up what I would have said too.  We have lost two pregnancies and now for the third we are still mulling around some of the same names we talked about before.  It's a personal decision.

It is your decision! Don't let friends try to dictate that for you. If you still love the name, there's absolutely nothing wrong with using it.

I agree with what all the ladies above said and just wanted to add that we have decided to stick with the same names we had picked out our last pregnancy.

I agree that it is a personal decision. If you want to use that name you should! It's no one else's decision but you and your SO

DH and I never discuss names for a baby until we know if LO is a boy or girl. Before we ever got pg there was a boys name that we liked. When we lost out first son (we did not find out he was a boy until he was born sleeping) we decided to name him after DH (not the name we liked). When our rainbow was born we did use that name.

My point is, don't let anyone influence your decision. If you want to use the name, than use it.

Agree with all pp:) it's your decision and even if you use same name Hun, it doesn't mean you have forgotten your angel, or it's bad luck...your actually honoring him/ her!

I'm assuming that your friend thinks that name will create sadness or anxiety for you.  I disagree.  It doesn't sound like you ever really gave that baby the name (particularly since you didn't even know if it applied!), so I wouldn't anticipate it stirring anything up for you.

I thought I wouldn't be able to use the boys name I had picked if this LO is a boy, because I was convinced my lost LO was a boy. However, I still love that name and I still want to use it (I think). I say, if you love it, use it.
