Re: Back Pains!

  • I ended up in L&D Friday night thanks to severe back pain that was spreading into my stomach and making me think the worst. (I'm a FTM, so I have no idea what normal pain is.) Anyway, since then, I've been hurting like hell squared but I've gone to the chiropractor twice which has helped. I've also started doing low back stretches twice a day (look some up on YouTube...there are tons of low back stretches that are good for pregnancy).

I feel for you! It sucks!

  • My lower back has been killing me since 18 weeks, (25 weeks now). At about 23 weeks, it crept up into my right shoulder blade, preventing me to lean forward without cringing/wanting to cry. Now I have lower back AND should pain every day, it's horrible. The more I do (like cleaning or picking up things) the more it hurts. Doctor said to try some stretches that are in the pregnancy handbook he gave me at the beginning, but honestly I haven't tried them. He said if those didn't help though he would send me to physical therapy - though I would probably decline because it's a 45 minute drive to his office and going multiple times a week to that general area is just too much!

Good luck! I like having a heating pad on my back when I'm just relaxing - it helps a lot but doesn't really improve it once I get back up. Just feels good while it's on.

  • Mine's been horrible too! I cleaned the floor upstairs Monday and paid for it big time. I wear a belly band every day and that really helps me. Otherwise I have way more aches and pains. I've also considered a support belt...

  • I bought a lumbar support pad for my office chair and an adjustable foot stool!

  • I found that I get lower back pain when I'm sitting in certain chairs or couches for too long. I bought an exercise ball to sit on instead of my office chair. I alternate between the exercise ball and the chair, it seems to help a bit. I also try to avoid sitting on the couch at home for long as it just makes it worse. I also do a lot of stretches at night. The cat/cow yoga stretch and child's pose seem to help the most.
