WFD? And a GTKY

edited July 2014 in Trying to Get Pregnant
So ,what's on everyone's plates tonight?

I'm making this: https://allrecipes.com/recipe/insane-oven-beef-ribs/

And I think we're just going to have a big green salad with it. I might throw some polenta together.

The GTKY: What time do you generally eat dinner? If you have kids, do you eat at the same time as the kids or do you and your SO eat later?

It's just us, and lately I've been trying to have dinner done by 7 or 7:30. I'm a late eater, so dinner at 8 is ideal for me, but I'm trying to eat earlier so I feel ready for bed earlier. But it's so hard for me to want to eat dinner when the sun's still out (hate DST, so much). I can't imagine eating dinner at 5:30pm, but I know some people do.

ETA: Sorry guys, I normally try to watch my language, I switched H to SO. Sorry about that.

Re: WFD? And a GTKY

  • A very good friend made us dinner tonight since I am currently still under the affects of the misoprostal and not feeling much like cooking. She made us chicken fettuccine, homemade bread, salad, and brownies. She is an amazing friend!

What time do you generally eat dinner? If you have kids, do you eat at the same time as the kids or do you and your H eat later?

We usually eat dinner when DH gets home. We have my DD, but she is with her dad during the summer. However, we still always eat dinner when DH gets home from work around 6 pm.

  • I made meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans.  Considering it feels like 100 degrees out, this may not have been the best idea since I have no AC in kitchen.  But, it was delicious!

And we usually eat around 5:30 or so.

I'm looking at an early CD1, so MH made dinner tonight cause I'm pouty.

Box mac and cheese. God bless him.

GTKY: 5-6ish. MH gets up early so we're early to bed as well.

    We're having steak caesar salad.

H doesn't get home until late, it's rare for us to eat any earlier than 7:30. 8, 8:30, 9 is not unheard of. I wouldn't mind eating late if it were just consistent. I'm either starving by the time he gets home or I've ruined my appetite with a snack.
  • Burgers on the grill tonight. But bonus! I just took a loaf of banana bread out of the oven!

Dinner times vary here. On days my SO has to work I usually make dinner on my last break from work (around 3) so he can take a decent meal to work with him. On nights he home I might start dinner until 6 or 6:30.

Usually we all eat dinner together but I'm a little more lax about it now that it's summer. If my kids are swimming at the neighbors I let them eat when ever they get home.
  • Not a clue what we're having. Something that doesn't require turning the oven on, maybe going out.

As for what time we eat, it depends on when H gets off work and if he forgot to bring a lunch or not. Typically we eat somewhere between 6p-10p. So, whenever we get hungry.
Son: Jackson, 11/02/06, stillborn due to PPROM and IUGR. Over the next ten years we had 9 miscarriages from 8-14 weeks. On May 18, 2016 my daughter, Ridley, was born. We're OADNBC.
  • We usually eat out during the week because of our schedules. Tonight we're going to get parm sandwiches (chicken for H, eggplant for me). We usually eat around 9-10pm.

We are up north, so something on the grill!

As for time, it really depends. During the school year, somewhere around 7:00-8:30. But during summer with my different work schedule, I get hungry by 5:00.

I just had some microwave manicotti.
My H doesn't like to eat before 8 and sometimes it is closer to 9.  Kinda drives me nuts because I like to eat around 6:30.  He complains that if he eats earlier he gets hungry again and can't go to sleep.  When I eat at 9 I tend to pass out right after I eat.  Food makes me sleepy.

We had skirt steak with tomato salad and asparagus. My kids are almost 3 and almost 1 and we all eat together, usually between 6-6:30. By eat together, I mean my husband and I sit at the table, the baby sits in the high chair and the toddler grazes, stoping by for a bite very once in awhile.

Edited because a high hair makes no sense.
  • I just grilled a bunch of chicken breast to use throughout the week. For dinner I cut up a piece and made a chicken caesar salad.

We eat anywhere from 5-7:30, but usually around 5:30. During the school year my lunch is so early at 10:50 and I get hungry by 5.

No clue. I'm on a road trip right now. Does Nebraska ever end??

GTKY: usually we eat between 6-7 except nights that we work out. On those nights we usually eat between 8-9.

  • Tonight, my kids had veggies burgers and fruit, DH had pizza rolls, and I had a bowl of Frosted Mini Wheats. I spent all day in the yard, so I had no urge to cook this evening.

We usually eat dinner around 5:30 to 6, because my youngest goes to bed around 7pm. We try to eat dinner together as a family, but occasionally DH is still at work. If that happens, I will sometimes wait to have my dinner when he gets home.

  • Taco Tuesday!  It's not a weekly thing, we just happen to be having tacos tonight because I wanted to make something quick.

GTKY: We usually eat between 7 and 8, whether we go out or eat at home.  I get home an hour or two before DH, so I usually eat a snack!

  • We've having eggs with crab tonight.  Probably should add something else...maybe a salad?  I dunno.

The GTKY: What time do you generally eat dinner? If you have kids, do you eat at the same time as the kids or do you and your SO eat later? We all get home around 6, so we eat shortly after.  And we all eat at the same time.  That's kind of a big deal to me.  I think it helps my kid be a better eater, because he sees everyone else eating, and it's our time with him, no distractions.  If one of us gets home late for some reason, the other parent eats with the kid.

  • We had chicken pot pie

My husband wants to eat dinner at 430 when he gets home. It drives me nuts. We usually eat about 530/6. We eat with DS.

I agree, I think eating together promotes better eaters. We eat the same thing our DS does and we don't have many problems. I am a stickler. Everyone at the table, no phones or tv. Quality family time.

Huh.  I eat breakfast at 8am, eat second breakfast around 11am, lunch at 12-1pm and then I'm dying for something at 4pm anyway.  If I just had breakfast and lunch over by 11:30am, there not a chance in hell I'd be functional at 3pm.

I eat a lot.  And often.  I'm like a toddler.
Oh I always have a snack after school. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat for lunch, I'm always starving at 3:10 when the bell rings.

Now that it's summer, I have to keep most snack foods out of the house or I will never stop eating.

  • I'm making cowboy burgers with sweet potato waffle fries. H is sick so a hearty meal is cheering him up.

GTKY: H and I typically eat around 8 or sometimes later depending on our schedule. When he's at the fire station, I have no rules. I do what I want!!

If you have kids, do you eat at the same time as the kids or do you and your SO eat later? We eat at the same time as our dd, though I also care for my grandparents, and she's typically done eating, and wants down by the time I'm finished serving everyone.

  • I made this  https://www.skinnytaste.com/2010/07/asian-glazed-drumsticks.html but with boneless, skinless thighs. It's a go-to that my H really likes and I make it with basmati rice and either broccoli or bok choy (tonight bok choy)

We usually eat around 8. We both usually get home around 7 and try to make dinner in a half hour or 45. It can be a challenge but I stick to a lot of fish and other easy meals during the week, and then save the more complicated stuff for the weekend.

  • We had spice-rubbed grilled pork chops and a tomato, black bean, corn and avocado salad.

Dinner time is anywhere from 6-7:30, depending on what's going on that evening, how tired I am, or how hot it is (in the summer).
Is there a recipe you use for this?  A dressing of any kind?  Sounds like a delicious combo!!
