Meal time help

Logan has been refusing to sit at the table to eat. He throws an absolute fit if I try to put him in his booster seat. He will sit in the chair for a few minutes but then gets off and won't eat. The only way I can get him to eat is by putting his plate on the coffee table and letting him run around and eat. Should I allow this or only let him eat at the table. It is hard to. to let him since DH and I eat at the coffee table frequently. Am I ruining my kid? Advice please.
