UPDATE Jeter's sweat test results are in

His sweat test came back abnormal. The doctor wants to see us at 2:00 tomorrow to go over the results. I'm so scared.

Update:Okay... so here's what we know...
A normal chloride level in a 6 month old is 40 and a bad chloride level is 60. Jeter's is 58. He'll see a pulmonologist for genetic testing and we'll go from there. He weighed just over 14 pounds and his excema is infected. He has 5 new prescriptions. She also said to stop the cow's milk and go back on the formula but I have mixed emotions on that. He is gaining weight on the milk.

I'm so sorry, what a stressful time. Our first sweat test results came back abnormal and high, too. The wait is gut wrenching, and I'm sorry.

Try not to get too worked up before the appointment. Even if it is CF there are a multitude of mutations it could be that determine severity of the disease; you'll be able to work with a geneticist and pulmonologisy to understand his specific mutation, his phenotype, and a treatment plan will be developed.

I know it's hard, but try to take it one day at a time. You're getting the critical answers to address his needs; that's a good thing.

Thank you all. I'm pretty calm right now, but I know I'll probably have a hard time in a few hours. My mil and dh will be at the appointment as well.

they should call me early next week with the referral.

I'm going to call monday when his doctor is back. The one we saw today was worthless. She couldn't figure out how to use her iPad and she kept asking me if Jeter's poop floated and I stared at her in confusion and she goes "oh he wears diapers still?! I guess you wouldn't know if it floats then". Ummm yeah...
