I got the NT test done today and it is not looking the best. The gap measured 6 mm they said they prefer not to see it over 3 mm. I was given the option of waiting for the rest of the NT results or go ahead with further testing. I decided to just get the further testing done. They pulled two vials of blood for the Panorama/ Harmony test. I go back on the 14th to go over my results. Needless to say I am very emotional today. Has anyone else gotten this test done and had that big of a gap?
FX that everything is alright. Maybe the baby was just in the wrong position to get an accurate result. I know mine was moving around all over the place when I got mine done.
I had a very good friend pregnant at the same time as me last time. She had markers. She went through a ton of heart ach and had a lot of test done. It ended up being a 1 in 4 chance her baby would have down syndrome. (This was 4 years ago). He son was born perfectly healthy. My point is try not to worry. There are tons for false positives which is why a lot of people opt out of it.
Also i had my test today ans the tech was saying hiw the baby has to be in the perfect position to get a good measurement.
I'm sorry you got unsettling news today. I hope that the Harmony Test will bring better information to you. As others have said, NTs have a propensity for false "positives" (increased likelihood)
JoaPata baby wouldn't really get into a perfect spot for the nasal bone shot so I don't know about that one. I think she might have been able to get one but she didn't comment on it.
I also had my NY scan today and from what I understand they need to look at 2 blood tests (hcg and Papp-a) combined with your NT measurement before giving you a definitive risk. Did they check those today too?
They did the ultrasound with a ton of photos and then took 6 drops of blood on some piece of paper. From what I understand they send all of that out for evaluation. I guess they were worried because they haven't really seen many measurements over 3 mm especially that far over.
I hope the other tests come back with better, more clear results.

I had my NT and genetic counseling on Monday. My OB said the NT was normal, but I'm really worried about the genetic screening because I'm 36. We won't terminate, and I want to know so that we can prepare, but even an abnormal screen isn'ta definite... The wait for results may drive me over the edge, though. I hope your results come back normal, but even if they're not, the only definite diagnostic tools are amino and CVS. For me, even if these come back normal, I have a second trimester screening and fetal echo in my future because of my age and I'm diabetic. When I think about it, about everything that could go wrong, it's terrifying. I try not to let myself think about it too much because the anxiety is not good for me or the baby.
Praying for a heathy blood test result and hey, you get to know gender early too now :-) I'm out of town during the window for our NT, they tried doing it early but baby was measuring small, so I don't get this test and it's unsettling not knowing. I would want to be prepared too, but wouldn't terminate. Praying.
Well NT results are back and I am still waiting on the harmony test. My risk factor is high 1:14 so that takes my odds of a healthy baby to 92.86% not terrible but I really wish they were better. I am just hoping the harmony results are back soon.
FX for good Harmony results. Like many others already said - it is not uncommon to have a false positive on the NT scan. I hope that it was an error and everything is perfect!
JoaPata baby wouldn't really get into a perfect spot for the nasal bone shot so I don't know about that one. I think she might have been able to get one but she didn't comment on it.
If it helps, my clinic doesn't even look at nasal bone or forehead angle and the lab they use doesn't include it in the calculation. Fx for a great harmony test.
when I was pregnant with my son, my sequential screening came back 1:15 risk for Downs. I was terrified. We did MaterniT21and have a very healthy 19 month old. Hang in there!
I finally got the phone call today. I am sad to report that there really wasn't any great news. Gender was not given on the test results (I was really counting on that to be my silver lining). The only so-so news is the panorama made the down syndrome odds 1 in 10,000. They are concerned that the baby might have a mosaic trisomy 18. I will be going down to OSU soon to see some specialists i think to get a better ultrasound and probably get an amniocentesis. The cherry on top for all of this is that they said they are still worried about the 6mm NT measurement. They said that might be something else all together. Needless to say I am heart broken and terrified.
I will continue to update you as I get more information.
