Contract? WWYD

So after having an amazing in-home daycare provider for a year, we are back to square one. Our sitter moved to another state, so we are back to looking for a new sitter. My question is, would you have a written contract for the sitter? We had a contract with our previous sitter, but it was one she created. If our new sitter doesn't have one, I'm thinking about creating one myself. Do you all do this? I think it would be good so everyone is on the same page with expectations. WWYD ?

Re: Contract? WWYD

  • We go to an in-home daycare, so its a little more formal, but we've got a contract.  i think its a good idea.

  • I would if I wasn't good friends with the woman who will be watching Phee in the fall. I just think everyone having the same goals and expectations is important.

  • Super smart. If your new sitter doesn't have one, I'd create one. You will both be on the same page for sure then.

  • Sitter or nanny? Nanny; yes. Occasional sitter, no.

  • @JSS1002 I wouldn't call her a nanny because she isn't caring for E in our home. But she def is not an occasional sitter. She will be keeping E 3-4 days per week while we go to work in her home. We will drop him off to her each day.

Then yes I would because it sounds like an in home daycare and I would want everybody to be on the same page.

  • We did! It wasn't anything formal or lawyer-esque, just a written page of expectations, schedule, pay, vacation, etc. etc.
