Cloth Diapering

help!

We just found out were pregnant with number two! I have brought up cloth dispersing a couple times to my husband but I dont think hes taking me seriuosly, I want to cloth diaper I want to with our first but didnt follow through with it idk if thats what hes hoping will happen with this one also. But every time I bring it up he says no no no idk why hes so against it the only semi reason he tries to say is thats its gross for the washer? But I've explained to him to that when our first son had a blow out we would just toss in it and wash it. But he thibks a huge load is gross or something idk. I just think it is smart saves money which im a stay at home mom so I have the time to invest in it im half tempted to say well ill just change the baby 24/7 then and you dont want to deal with the cloth lol but I know at 3 am I'm going to want his help! So my question is how do I get him on board! Thanks

  • You may just want yo lay out a cogent argument.
1 saving money (unless you must buy ALL the diapers)
2 no chemical on baby butt
3 washing diapers is just like washing blowout diapers, or adult undies. ( we all know that most men's underware have streaks.)
4 less trash that he has to haul out.( and in the land fill )
    5 SUPER CUTE FLUFFY BUTTS!!

Maybe if you used punctuation YH would take you more seriously? Find what motivates him. If money motivates him, show him a cost comparison. If cuteness motivates him, show him prints. If ease of use motivates him, show him an AIO. And remind him there will be a ton less blowouts in cloth. And if it REALLY helps him feel better, you can always get a sprayer and spray even newborn poopy diapers into the toilet before washing.

idk how you got through the whole thing to give advice! I gave it the ol' college try twice. Idk

  • You could look into doing a cloth diaper trial, that way you can try out different types of diapers without feeling like you are making a huge investment. And you don't have to do all or nothing. The trial I did only had maybe 13 diapers, which meant we had to use disposables while our diapers were washing and drying. Some people just do cloth at home, disposables when they are out. Whatever works for you.
  • Thank you all I guess I need to do more research on them and provide him with facts also the spraying down the pants before washing sounds like a good idea! How offer do you all wash them that was his thing too im going to be washing shit pants daily lol

By pants do you mean diapers?  :-/

You have to spray every diaper that gets pooped in once baby starts solids.  How often you wash will depend on how many diapers you have, etc.

Also, since you will be a SAHM, is it fair to assume that you will be changing most of the diapers and doing most of the laundry?  So YH won't necessarily be the one doing all the cleaning.  He could even leave all the poopy diapers for you if it will make him agree to try CD.
