Anyone have heartburn in 1st Trimester?

I am 11 weeks tomorrow and the heartburn has been here since probably week 6. I really can't complain because I have had it VERY easy with no morning sickness or any issues but the heartburn is getting REALLY bad. I finally gave up on Tums and tried Pepcid AC last night but now I'm concered about taking it continuously. It IS on my "approved medication" list from my OB but they really prefer no meds in the 1st Trimester. DId anyone else have bad heartburn so early on? What was your solution?

I have terrible heartburn and acid reflux. I quit the tums at 7 or so weeks. My doc put me on Zantac, now since I am in my second trimester I can go back to my Prilosec that I took pre pregnancy.

I had it in first trimester but then it went away and now I only get it occasionally.  I read that for some people eating some almonds or drinking some almond milk may help.

I had really bad heartburn before and during pregnancy.  While I was cycling for my first IVF I asked about taking Prevacid and my RE said it was fine to take thru the entrire process and during pregnancy.  So I take that daily... I LOVE my Prevacid.  I ran out on Friday and was just trying to control it with Tums, what a joke,  I tried in agony for 3 days and then finally got to the store and bought more.  I don't think you should even hesitate taking it daily, the pregnancy heartburn is not a force to be reckoned with!

I have a ton of heartburn. Tums barely touched it so I started taking Gaviscon liquid and that helps. My CNW told me to go ahead and take Zantac.

I had awful heartburn with DS the entire pregnancy.  I started with tums, but found myself eating them constantly.  I switched to Zantac and it worked wonders.  As long as it's on the safe meds list, I wouldn't hesitate to take it.  Why suffer?

When I had moments of not feeling nauseated and decided to overeat, yeah I had it :-)

Yes, I had it and still have occasional bouts. I just take tums so far and carry them with me at all times. I also found that milk/dairy helped. I'm not a milk drinker but would do the carnation instant breakfast with milk (and not just for breakfast).

Yep. I have it too. I didn't get it with DS until 28 weeks, but this time it showed up right away. I usually take Tums and so far it's been manageable. I have been trying to stay away from the foods that trigger it. I took prescription Prilosec last time when nothing OTC worked, but I heard from a friend with my same OB that they no longer prescribe it during pregnancy.

I have it terribly and found that Mylanta really helps. Tums is a joke.
