Loss of our beloved pet

I am so devastated. We had to say goodbye to our dog of the last 11 years tonight and it was the hardest thing to do. It started yesterday when we noticed her ear oozing and a foul smell, took her to the dr and they thought it was an ear infection this morning. At about 2:00 we were at home and she had a seizure, the first one of her whole life. She had two more in the time it took me to get back to the vet. This went on all afternoon and evening. Her bloodwork was horrible, they think she had cancer. We made the very difficult decision to end her suffering. We got her when we were engaged and she was there for the birth of all three children, all of our moves, absolutely everything. I am so sad she won't be here to welcome this baby. I'm so sorry. This is never easy. A year and a half ago I lost my cat to cancer, and that very same day our 15 yo toy poodle was attacked by a large dog and almost died. He spent days in the icu with multiple surgeries and passed away 4 mos later. We essentially lost both our furbabies in one day. I've got their urns and shadow boxes on display, and MIL had sketches drawn of them for us for Christmas last year. I don't mean to make your post about me, but I'm still so sad over our loss, so I can completely understand the hurt you must be feeling, especially when it was so sudden. Losing a pet is never easy, and I'm so sorry your LO will never get to meet her. May she rest in peace. Hang in there.

I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss of Ms. Chloe! I've been in your situation before & it's never easy! In time you will be able to reflect back on all of the wonderful moments with her and smile, but in the mean time allow yourself to grieve, it's only natural! One thing that helped me was to plant a small blooming plant in his honor! It is now a place I can go in our yard that I can feel "connected" to him again! Again OP I am so very sorry, hang in there! I am so sorry for your loss!!!  We just lost our cat that we had for almost 8 years a month ago so I can only imagine how hard it must be saying good bye to your dog!

Thank you everyone for your kind words. It really is a lot harder than I expected ever losing a pet to be! It just happened so fast and I think I couldn't even process it until she was already gone. The kids and I found pics of her to frame in each of their rooms and my mom bought them a little stone making kit for them to do today to put on top of where we bury her ashes. I think helping them process their grief with being so young, but old enough to understand she's not coming back, has been the hardest thing. Thank you again for the support!!!
