Opinions on Owen?

I want to like this name so badly because it's H's favorite, but the first thing that comes to mind is Owen Wilson and he irks me. The second thing that I think of is that it sounds tad bit 'country' and that's not really the feel I'm going for.  If I try to look past those two issues I find myself warming up to it a bit.

What comes to mind when you see/hear the name Owen? Are these issues that I have something I can get past? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I don't find Owen that country, at least that's not what I think of when he hear it. The city I live in has Owen in the name, and I happen to love where I live!! I don't think anything bad at all but if you don't love it you shouldn't settle!!

I like it. It would be on my list if my husband's name didn't rhyme with it. I don't think country at all.

  • I've always like the name Owen, but when it surged in popularity I got kind of tired of it. Now I find myself liking it again. I don't think it's too "country."

  • I love Owen! Its so cute. I actually have this name on my list.
  • I don't get a country vibe from Owen. It's a fine name just too popular for me personally.
  • I love it! It's our 2nd sons name.  However we spell it Owyn because it's the Welsh variation after my husbands grandfather....
  • My third son is Owen! It's a great name! And we are not country!

A common, normal, popular name, that has become so ingrained the anglicised (Owen) is just as Welsh as the original Owain.
(Can you tell that I'm Welsh?)
