How do Best Bottoms Fit?

I guess I should really be directing this at @TJ1979 but I know Best Bottoms are generally well liked. I really want to get a few, I hate most of my pocket diapers and my husband really likes the idea of AI2s and a brand with good resale value. Our LO is a long, lean one; and at our doctor's appointment today she seemed to think he will never be a chubby baby, but nice and long.

Do Best Bottoms fit long, lean babies well? C is already fitting into some brands of OS things, but I figure he'll need to gain a couple more lbs before most things fit.

So ... reviews.

BB fit earlier than a lot of OS because they have four rise settings instead of three.

But they do have a shorter tallest rise setting than a lot of OS. So my 34" toddler is on the tallest rise and has been for several months. He just moved to the tallest rise on BG and is still on the middle rise for Blueberry.

The double gussets do well on skinny legs. FYI a lot of ladies on here get small and large hemp/cotton inserts and skip mediums. The large and med. are almost the same size. That's not the case with the MF inserts, but I think you could still skip med. if you get aplix covers.

I would at least try it on your long and lean little. Might not last till PL, but will be a great diaper for a while.

I only bought medium inserts since ds was at the small end of the medium size range when I bought them. He is just under 20pounds now at almost 16months so definitely on the skinny side and I have yet to have any issue that was not user error. I changed to using flats instead of the inserts a couple months ago. The shells work great over pad folded or fastened flats as well as with the inserts. The only thing I don't like about BB is the sized inserts. I wish I had gone with SoftBums one size pods.

We have one BB, and I am seriously considering getting some more even though DS1 is getting a bit big for the rise. I use prefolds and flats instead of the inserts, and they work great. They are trimmer than my Blueberries, so they are great for daytime and still work for ON in a pinch.

I got them and loved them when she was smaller, but now that she's 2 and still has quite chunky legs, they aren't getting nearly as much use. DH uses them because the likes how easy they are, but she's only 24lbs and on the biggest setting because otherwise they dig into her hips but then gap more than I like at the belly. BGs fit her the same way and they are another popular brand. It's all dependent on your little one.

Tall and skinny baby over here! We love them. I do notice that we have to make sure the front is pulled up more than the back-otherwise serious reverse plumbers crack . My loves are all over the place though-I also love Flips...and they fit completely differently than BB

Thanks everyone! Im excited for another excuse to try out Best Bottoms. I had great success today selling a few things from my newborn stash that C has already outgrown and I sold 5 of the 10 pockets I'm not fond of, so I'll be ordering a few covers and inserts this week!

i often feel the need to confess that i don't really love BB.  they're ok.  i use them.  but i wouldn't buy more--no matter how adorable their prints may be

I confess I still haven't even tried them! They are on my most coveted list, but whenever it comes time to pull the trigger, I chicken out. I really want the blue fox one and the hedgehogs, I just need to gtf over it. Same goes for the OS Simplex.

Am I going to be shunned now?

The Foxy Frolic is more purple than blue, I'd say. I love both prints.

No, I like the foxtrot better and meant foxtrot, just couldn't remember the name off the top of my head. Although when I just looked again they both have the blue fox, so I can see why you'd think that.

BBs are the only daytime diaper we use.  I love them!  Everytime I attempt to buy something else I can't pull the trigger.  I use prefolds and flats under them instead of the inserts.  I have been thinking about picking up some hemp soon though.  We currently have 2 in them.  They are on the smaller size but they are super trim which I love!

I have 5 aplix and 1 snap BB shells. I definitely like the aplix better......I can't say I want anymore shells since I don't want solids and I have all of the prints I like (hedgehog, foxtrot, and hoot) I haven't felt the urge to buy the large inserts yet either since my flats are working with them well enough.

I ended up getting 4 shells, 2 aplix and 2 snaps. I definitely like the aplix better but I am lazy and like aplix better on everything.

They fit him pretty well, and he has thinned out in the past weeks even more. I noticed last week that another brand of diaper I have, one of the first OS diapers to fit him now gaps at he legs because he's getting longer and leaner apparently. I had to put those ones away for the time being ...
