Sleeping

Does anyone else wake up feeling like they're squishing their baby? I know (or at least hope) I'm probably worrying over nothing, but no matter how hard I try to stay on my side (I've even slept on the couch twice...and DH slept on an air mattress on the floor right by me so I wouldn't wake up and worry!) I always end up laying at least half way on my belly. I just can't figure out how I'm going to get through 5 more weeks of this! :-( I'm pretty sure I haven't heard of babies being squished in utereo, but I still can't help but worry just a little bit...

  • My doctor told me to sleep any way that is comfortable, including on your back. He said if it gets uncomfortable, that's a sign something isn't good and you need to move. I have noticed that when I wake up on my back, I have a headache (only happened twice). Every other night or so, I try building a pillow fort to prop me up mostly upright. Haha. I think that sleeping has been the hardest part of third trimester! It's the cause of any other trouble I've been having (exhaustion, groin pain, headache)! :-(

I do the same thing and I'm not too worried. I still wake up on my back a lot, too. And sometimes I just don't care because it's the only comfortable position!
This! I still wake up on my back sometimes because the stretch it gives my belly feels so good. I roll over when I get uncomfortable. For a while though hubby would snip at me every time he caught me on my back. Sometimes I cant help it dude!

  • I sleep however comfortable for me. I figure my body will tell me when I need to move. I'm a belly sleeper too. Little babe to curls up on the upper side.
  • Every time I lay on my left side, baby loves to shove a foot in my ribs which is not fun! So my only option now is to fall asleep on my right side if I want to get to sleep! Frustrating

I sleep the way you described.  I did the same with DS and he is just fine.  I wouldn't worry about it.

  • I sleep however is comfortable, which right now involves a lot of rolling over back and forth. Both sides, back for a little bit, half on my stomach with my knee supporting some of my weight.
  • I'm sleeping in a recliner with pillows on both sides of me; one to support my back, the other to squish up under my bump.  I don't sleep WELL, but I do sleep some.

I know if I lay on the WeeNut TOO much, she'll start going bonkers and kick the crap out of me, so I usually let her determine if I'm on my belly too much.  She's pretty good at letting me know.  :)

  • I have been sleeping on my stomach until about 2 weeks ago bc it got uncomfortable. My OB said that it was no big deal. Although he does recommend not sleeping on your back.
