Hi all, well, to make a long story short, Friday's ultrasound at what should have been 9 weeks 5 days, there was no heartbeat and also measured behind. 8 fibroids ranging in size from about 1 inch to 2 inches in diameter were discovered at 6 weeks pregnant. My doctor says there is no way of knowing if the fibroids caused the miscarriage due to lack of blood supply or if it was a chromosomal thing. I've been doing my research and it seems that it's possible, but unlikely depending on the location of the fibroids.
Anyway, those details are for another time. My question is, I decided not to do the D and C because the fibroids are so numerous that it kind of makes it more difficult and risky. I didn't want to wait for a natural miscarriage either, so I opted for the medication that will be inserted on Monday. Has anybody had that done? How long did it take to work? (omg I can't believe this is really happening) and how long until it was over?
Thanks in advance for any advice y'all can give me.

Sorry for your loss. No advice to offer b/c I had a natural m/c, but I remember the "I can't believe this is happening" feeling. It's horrible. Hope you find comfort on these boards and from those around you. ((hugs))
@ImJessesGirl I'm so sad to see you here from Jan '15. I have only been on the board a few days and already have found amazing love & support. Hoping things go smoothly for you over the next few days/week. I had a D&C Friday so no advice but I hope you can find some peace soon. Big hugs!

@ImJessesGirl - I'm so sorry to see you over here from Jan '15. How's it going with the medicine? Even though I had miscarried naturally, they still gave me the medicine to make sure all of the tissue was out. I had severe cramping and bleeding, but they also gave me pain killers and I wasn't filling a pad in an hour, so I handled it at home. Make sure that you drink lots of water! My cramping was far less as long as I stayed well hydrated. I hope you are doing OK!

ImJessesGirl - So sorry to see you here! I wish we were both back on the Jan 2015 board. : ( How did it go on the Cytotec? I just saw your post asking if anyone had opted for the medication and wanted to let you know that I did. Mine was on June 12th. My heavy bleeding lasted about 1 week, followed by another week or 2 of spotting. The pain wasn't too bad for me and I only had to use Ibuprophen a couple times. Now, emotionally.... it was horrible!!! If you still have questions, I'll be happy to answer them if I can.
Hugs to you!

@Johnna77 I just worry because my cramps stopped last night and I haven't passed any clots. I have had very thick, dark blood, but that's it. I am afraid that the fibroids are preventing any tissue from passing... but idk if that's possible.

Yeah, I think you wouldn't/should've passed some clots by now. My large clots came the same day I inserted the pills. I'm praying it will work and you won't have to go another route... or do another round of Cytotec. Ugh!

I talked with the nurse this morning and she said that the dark, thick stuff is clots. I thought a clot would be like, idk, a chunk, lol. She said that what I'm experiencing sounds like I'm going in the right direction. So that's good, I guess.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I don't have any experience with starting a miscarriage with meds, but I just wanted to give ((HUGS)) to you. This is not the board that anyone wants to join, but I hope you find support here.
