First Period Confusion

Hey all - 

I'm 3 weeks and some days past my natural m/c and I'm wondering what the first period will be like.  For the past few days I've had some slight cramping and hot flashes.  It feels like AF is about to come, but it's already been 3 days with these symptoms with no AF.  I took a pg test yesterday to make sure hcg had dropped and it was negative.  

It's so frustrating not knowing what's going on with my body.  For me, I've always been very regular and AF always came on time except for our BFP, and now I don't know what's going on.  

How long did it take for your AF to get back to normal?

I've only had two periods since my most recent loss and they're not at all like they were before I was pregnant. I would really suggest looking in to temping your basal body temperature. It takes a lot of practice to figure it out, but it can be a huge help. The blog on TTGP has some info and a lot of us use www.fertilityfriend.com to track. You might check it out.

Other than that, it's all a crap chute. Your period could return in a day or it could be a few more weeks. Luckily, since your hCG is low enough you should be able to ovulate now and it will hopefully not be too much longer. I'm sorry for your loss. Take care.

My first AF came 32 days after my D&C and was nothing like my norm. Second cycle was 26 days. I have no idea what to expect this cycle.

I just posted a similar thread. My first period after mc unfortunately was quite horrific. It was really heavy which I am not at all used to and came 7 weeks after the mc. I'm now having my second period 5 weeks later and it to is awful, heavy and painful. I can't really help you out but I guess just be prepared for the unexpected!

My first cycle came exactly 27 days after the miscarriage, was light but lasted nine days. The second cycle came 29 days after that and was horrific, but only lasted my usual five days. So it really is a crap chute as @EllyD14 said. Good luck girl, sending you some hugs and AF vibes.

Mine took about 4 weeks. it was much heavier and painful than usual.

Update: AF has arrived!! As relieved as I was it's also sad, but at least I know that my body is bouncing back and is getting back to normal.

Relief and sadness are what I felt with my first period, as well. At least something is working properly, but it very strongly reinforced the loss.

Yup especially since AF decided to show up the same day as a family get together. My cousin was there who found out she was pregnant a few weeks before me. Last time I saw her we were both pregnant and now her baby bump is out. The whole time I felt like crying.
